General Manager
Location: Lusaka, Zambia
Number Required: 1Job Overview: The General Manager will compliment and lead our dedicated
Zambia team to the next level.
This leadership role will see you overseeing all areas of the business with a hands-on approach, working directly with your team and customers.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overall leadership and management of the Zambia branch;
- Drive a positive culture in the business, promoting team work, customer focus and efficiency;
- Focus on how to strategically improve performance and grow the business;
- Research and substantiate strategies which will allow the business to reach its goals and present these for approval to the Board of Directors;
- Drive implementation of strategies once developed;
- Prepare, develop and work on the budget, manage costs and expenditure, achieve and improve on financial targets and budget objectives;
- Ensure quality assurance and quality control is maintained at all times and levels;
- Identify and asses and take advantage of new business opportunities;
- Represent the company to customers, potential customers and external stakeholders;
- Be accountable for leading the company in sales and production, new business development and credit control;
- Oversee operations, including client engagement and financial management;
- Provide monthly and quarterly business updates and reports to the Directors;
- Continually seek to improve and optimise existing processes in the areas of operations and client engagement;
- Lead, recruit and develop people resources in order to create a positive and productive workplace;
- Drive efficiency through maintaining and improving systems within the business.
- Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture or animal science or marketing and finance is essential;
- Hold a minimum of 5 years successful experience in senior leadership positions;
- Have a reputation as an exceptional leader with sound business acumen and a thorough knowledge of business management principles and best practice including those relating to finance, human resources, health, safety and environmental management;
- Strong leadership and management skills, the ability to lead, motivate and engage with employees;
- Experience of managing people and the ability to bring out the best in people;
- Demonstrated ability to effectively develop, execute and manage annual budgets;
- Well-developed communication, presentation, interpersonal skills and effective organisation and planning capability as part of your skill set;
- Excellent written and spoken communication in English is critical for this role;
- Ability to work independently and the willingness to travel within the region is essential;
- Excellent cross cultural exposure and ability to fit in and blend in in a foreign culture.
