ChildFund International is seeking a Regional Human Resources Manager (RHRM) for the African Region, located in either Uganda, Kenya, or Ethiopia to support National Offices across East/West & South Africa. This is an exciting opportunity to fulfill a core function in a global and diverse organization.
The RHRM is responsible for providing leadership, facilitation, implementation, delivery and proactive consultation of global human resources strategies and programs for the African region. The RHRM serves as a HR leader to the National Offices and is a liaison between ChildFund International headquarters and the Regional and National Offices for all matters related to Human Resources. The RHRM is a member of global Human Resources leadership team, as well as the African Regional leadership team.
The RHRM will provide strategic and proactive input on organizational design, talent management and succession planning, among other areas. The RHRM is a resource for NO leadership on employee relations issues, providing coaching and leadership or consultation on employee relations investigations. S/he will review and recommend changes to NO HR policies and review local labor law changes, remuneration policies and recruitment strategies. The RHRM will ensure comprehension and compliance with relevant internal and external policies, laws and regulations.
As a liaison between National, Regional and Headquarters offices, the RHRM communicates HR initiatives and programs and provides implementation support. S/he is responsible for non-national staff contracting process including documentation, renewal, relocation resources and collaboration with Regional finance staff to ensure accurate payment and accrual of benefits and allowances. The RHRM will lead global HR project that advances the function and strengthens the organization’s leadership and/or competitive advantage worldwide.
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA or Master’s degree in Human Resources highly desirable.
- 8 – 10 years of demonstrated human resource generalist experience in a multi-national/multi-cultural organization servicing multiple countries.
- HR experience in both for-profit and non-profit sectors desired.
- Must be fluent in English and; fluency in Portuguese desired.
- Proven ability working in a matrix environment; strong team building skills.
- Knowledge of domestic and international functional human resources areas (employee relations, organizational development, remuneration, HRIS), with a focus on policy and procedure implementation, project management and/or facilitation of programs.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose human resources operational problems and determine and apply strategic solutions. Demonstrated experience in facilitation of workshops/training programs.
- Cross-cultural experience derived from working in culturally diverse-developing environments; prior experience living and working in an international community preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, with ability to meet deadlines. Strong critical thinking skills; sound reasoning based on standard human resources principles and practices.
- Ability to apply discretion and maintain confidential information.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Strong communication, presentation and documentation skills. Significant travel requirements. Job Location Nairobi, Ādīs Ābeba, Ethiopia Position Type Full-Time/Regular
