Job Description: The Legal officer works to address the internal and external legal concerns of the business.
He/she must have superb legal skills and discipline to keep the business functioning and out of legal trouble.
Oversees all of the legal affairs of a corporation and directs the corporate legal department

Role and Responsibilities
  • Plans and directs all aspects of an organization’s legal affairs and ensures maximum protection of its legal rights.
  • Leads the defense of the organization in lawsuits and the prosecution of lawsuits on behalf of the organization against others.
  • Provides legal expertise to other departments where needed.
  • Provide company secretarial services
  • Drafting Standard contracts and specialized contracts for specific activities
  • Reviewing and Negotiating contracts to which the company is a party
  • Gives legal advice to management to ensure the best legal approach when handling legal matters
  • Advises them on matters of constitutional and national law
  • He may have to handle conflicting legal matters that involve international, public, and private law
  • Drawing up and submitting major contracts, agreements and other legal documents
  • Ensuring that all such documents and third party contracts are properly and promptly executed.
  • Monitoring and reporting changes to applicable statutes and regulations
  • Monitoring and reporting on compliance risk
  • Preparing legal cases in conjunction with external counsel
  • Monitoring progress to ensure prompt resolution of all disputes.
  • Filing documents at the companies registry.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Have a minimum of Diploma in law or its equivalent and 4 years’ experience in legal matters and administration
  • Have a degree in Law from a reputable institution and 2 years’ experience in legal matters and administration
  • Be well-versed with Labour laws and civil litigations
  • Be well-versed with transfer of property deals and be able to draft agreements
  • Excellent IT user skills.
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
