We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Network Engineering Department within the Technology Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.

Brief Description
Reporting to the Senior Manager- Space and Power Planning, the position holder will design, organize, manage, and deliver successful completion of projects by-working with project teams to provide support and oversight on mechanical services (air conditioning and mechanical ventilation, fire suppression, plumbing and drainage) to ensure projects are delivered at the required specifications, on time and within budget; he is or she will also provide a communication link with internal and external stakeholders and technical supporting role through all stages of mechanical services design, installation, commissioning and handover ensuring that best practice in mechanical services design is maintained.

Mechanical Engineer Job Detailed Description in Kenya

• Prepare mechanical designs (drawings/layouts and BQs) for mechanical services in new sites – Datacenters, MGW sites, BSCs, Hubs and oversee their installation.
• Review designs, costs and specs, BQs of mechanical services designs prepared by external consultants and vendors for accuracy, cost and performance.
• Investigate mechanical services designs and installations in existing equipment rooms and advice remedial/upgrade works. Optimize designs for new site installations
• Attend site inspections and meetings at appropriate intervals to ensure installations are carried out in accordance with drawings, specs and prescribed standards.
• Develop new and optimized specifications for mechanical services /guide lines installations to be used in Technology division.
• Manage and maintain a database of all mechanical services installations in the network.

Requirements for Mechanical Engineer Jobs in Kenya

Approved Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized University in one of the following:

• Mechanical Engineering
• Production Technology
• Minimum 4 years’ technical experience in a busy service or production sector with active hands-on engagement in design, specification, installation and commissioning, operation and maintenance of fire suppression, industrial HVAC; air conditioning, mechanical ventilation, chillers, heat exchangers systems, fuel systems, plumbing and drainage etc
• Minimum 2 years’ experience and knowledge in design and implementation of mechanical services in data centers and or telecommunications equipment rooms
• Certification & practical experience in Project Management will be an added advantage
• Basic working knowledge and competence in MS Office applications;
• Working knowledge in MS Project and Ms Visio
• Working knowledge in AutoCAD
• Basic financial knowledge on project appraisals such as paybacks, NPV, ROI, IRR etc
