The NRC Horn of Africa & Yemen mission is an expanding programme. NRC started its operations in Kenya in the refugee camps in Dadaab in February 2007. NRC has WASH, Shelter, Education, Food Security and Livelihood and Information Counseling and Legal Assistant programmes implemented in the refugee camps in Dadaab.
The Project Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the WASH and Livelihoods projects within the Mandera area. The Project Coordinator will work together with, and advise the Head of Office and WASH Project Manager on various technical issues regarding the programme implementation and performance progress regularly.
The Project Coordinator will deputize the Head of Office in his absence and undertake any assignments issued to him/her by the Head of Office.

Coordinate and implement the WASH project according to strategy, proposals and plans
Works closely with WASH Project Manager, and Assist the Head of Office in writing project proposals and reports
Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements
Develop annual activity and work plans
Training and development of WASH staff
Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities
Organize trainings for the WASH team, relevant partners and beneficiaries
Monthly activity/project reports and other reporting as required
Ensure proper filing of all project documents
Together with the WASH Project Manager; Develop, coordinate, supervise and monitor WASH and Livelihood projects in Mandera in line with the proposals, strategies and donor requirements.
Participate in the strategic planning and drafting proposals of WASH and Livelihoods activities within NRC Kenya.
Responsible for planning, design and implementation of WASH and Livelihoods projects, including technical activity, financial and procurement planning.
Responsible for general supervision of all the Mandera Projects implementation; water supply and water quality monitoring, sanitation, solid waste management, hygiene promotion, unconditional Cash Transfers, and others as would be required.
Responsible for the field interpretation and adaptation of NRC’s WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods project strategies.
Participate in design and development of new WASH, Food Security and Livelihood projects in Mandera Area.
Supervise and coordinate NRC’s WASH, Food Security and Livelihood activities in Mandera with an integrated approach.
Ensure that all project activities are in accordance with available budgets and being implemented on schedule.
Participate in tendering and bid analysis for contracts for service delivery and materials
Participate in the Area level WASH, Food Security and Livelihood outputs delivery, quality assurance and reports validation.
Ensure ongoing documentation of project progress and integrate sound M&E procedures in all aspects of Mandera projects.
Prepare and submit periodic reports on the projects activities, as required.
Represent NRC at relevant coordination meetings and similar forums at Mandera area level or as would be required.
Develop any required rapid response and contingency plans related to WASH, Food Security and Livelihood.
Prepare technical and project reports; bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and as required.
Responsible for recruitment and capacity building of Projects staff and technical support to all WASH, Food Security and Livelihood activities in Mandera.
Assign duties, supervise, train and conduct performance management process with the respective WASH, Food Security and Livelihood Officers and follow up related processes for all Projects staff.
Accomplish any other tasks as requested by the WASH Project Manager and/or the Head of Office
Qualifications for Project Coordinator Kenyan Jobs
Bachelor Degree in Water and Environmental engineering, Civil Engineering, Public Health Engineering, Hydrology or similar relevant discipline.
Minimum of 4 years’ of relevant experience, at least 2 years in Humanitarian or urban informal settlement contexts in WASH, Food Security and Livelihood Projects
Experience from working as a Programme/Project Coordinator or in a similar position.
Experience and understanding of the SPHERE standards in humanitarian and development programming preferred.
Demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity issues into WASH, Food Security and Livelihoods Programming.
Ability to initiate, develop, plan and implement integrated projects.
