Standard Chartered Bank Vacancy : Analyst, Cost and Performance

Job description

This role involves understanding of the cost base for entire region with good analytical skills, provision, tracking and monitoring of all aspects of costs Management Information. This role also involves timely submission of deliverables as required by the group and/or the Business. This role involves timely communication with Group team in Singapore and also with countries in the Africa region.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

1. Preparation of Management packs and submission to all Africa countries by M+4. 2. Review of the costs numbers on the day after the pipeline submission. Following up with the respective Business Finance teams of the respective countries on any material movements and validating the numbers 3. Circulating the Commentary template from group and WD6 commentary to all the business finance users in Africa Region. 4. Ensuring that the all countries in the region submit commentaries by the timelines advised by group. Reviewing the commentaries provided and then submitting to group on the timelines advised by group. 5. Tracking actual costs through preparing costs related MIS including commentaries (One pager commentary) of high quality by WD8 and circulating it to business heads. 6. Submitting the monthly costs estimate for Africa Region to central team. Ensuring that the monthly costs estimate verses actual variances are minimal. 7. Coordinating with Tech & Ops team for monthly & quarterly estimates. 8. Ensuring that the forecast numbers are submitted to Central team as and when it is due. 9. Ensuring that the countries submit the forecast on time and with NIL variances between the estimated numbers and the forecast upload. 10. Actively engaging in change initiatives, challenging established practices to deliver tactical and strategic cost savings. Making suggestions where improvements can be made. Analyzing, reviewing and reporting on initiatives and expected savings. 11. Participating in the annual Cost budgets, coordinating with countries on provision of inputs for budget and quarterly forecasts process within prescribed timescales, ensuring the unit heads have full understanding of assumptions and key risks.

Qualifications and Skills

* University degree preferable in Business or Accounting * Qualified Accountant /Professional qualification – CIMA, ACCA, CA or equivalent * Expertise in Microsoft Excel/Macros, Data mining tools and Power Point will be an advantage * At least three years experience in a middle management position with relevant/specific banking experience. * Knowledge of the Banking practice and Products * Strong knowledge in Management Accounting principles * Strong analytical skills and an eye for detail * Good communication and interpersonal skills * Effective Team player
