To provide leadership and strategic direction of a broad and comprehensive program of internal auditing with the aim of providing an agreed level of assurance to the Board and senior leadership regarding the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes of the Centre. The unit is also responsible to oversee any investigations.

The ICRAF Internal Audit unit subscribes to the standards of the International Institute of Internal Auditors, and co-ordinates its work with the CGIAR Internal Audit Unit for all CGIAR Research Programmes. It is expected that the unit will undergo an external peer review in 2016. The unit reports to the Board of Trustees via the Finance and Audit Committee.
