Our Client is the largest composite Insurer in East Africa, with offices spread in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Mauritius. Their strong portfolio includes Life, Pensions, General and Medical Insurance.

They have more than 500,000 clients across the region, and are listed in the 3 core East African countries, which is a strong testimony of their solid financial foundation.

Over the years, they have continued to win excellence awards in various categories, including company of the year award, Claim settlement Life award, Fraud detection and protection award, and Human Resources Company of the year award, among others.

To support their continued growth within the region, they are seeking to fill some senior positions in Kenya and Uganda, and we are thus hunting for exceptional talent in the following roles:

The Opportunities:

This is a Senior Position, reporting to the Regional CEO, and will be based at the Head Office in Nairobi, Kenya.

Role Purpose

To develop strategies that will enhance the company’s retail growth plan, which includes digital transformation and business vision.
Ensure that the Company has great online presence and alternative channel development.
To drive regional retail business growth for long and short term insurance products.

Some Key Deliverables Include
  • Driving the growth of digital practice and customer experience and building a successful delivery capability to establish the company as a leader in the retail segment.
  • Developing a long-term plan for retail business with sales objectives supported by budgets for transformation and appropriate levels of marketing.
  • Coordinating with CEO’s and Heads of Department across all lines of business and marketing to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to retail business growth with agreed strategies and priorities.
  • Lead and direct the shaping and delivery of transformation projects where digital and technology are the principal enablers of a retail sales programs across all lines of business in close coordination with all business units and the I.T. function.
  • Identify the internal capabilities and changes required to digitize the company’s retail business with supporting processes and people trained to serve clients through digital channels.
  • Fostering and maintenance of good corporate image through liaison with all competitors, intermediaries and the general public and maintain high Public relations
  • Actively shape the future business model for Retail Insurance in collaboration with customer value management, propositions, and distribution playing a key role.
  • Lead regional teams of Retail SME product and distribution to provide solutions to meet customer needs and improve the effectiveness of Retail Insurance distribution.
  • Responsible for establishing and strengthening relationships with all customers, brokers and agents.
The Person

A Master’s degree holder in a business related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Financial Services, and at least 3 years at Senior Level.

Experience
  • Experience in budgeting and strategic financial planning
  • Relevant online and call center experience
  • Solid exposure to, and understanding of macro-economics and external factors affecting the business strategies
  • Involvement in Business Strategic planning at senior level
  • The candidate should demonstrate ability to utilise market intelligence for competitive advantage, business planning and implementation, and be exceptional at business development with tangible results
