Supervision: Climate Change Business Advisors (3), Project Officer – Healthcare waste management (1)

Purpose: To manage the implementation of climate-friendly energy and medical waste management
solutions to selected Tunza franchise health facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Director and the relevant technical teams to:
• Assess Tunza facilities on their energy consumptions patterns/status and mode used to manage healthcare waste generated from their facilities
• Work with a sustainable business solutions firm to develop scalable energy solutions and financing package for Tunza providers;
• Develop and oversee promotion and marketing strategies for the renewable energy solutions and financing package to Tunza providers;
• Capacity build Tunza providers on healthcare waste management;
• Facilitate a mechanism for effective collection and disposal of healthcare waste for Tunza providers;
• Motivate and lead the climate change team in supporting franchise providers to adopt more climate-friendly strategies;
• Work with M&E to develop tools and gather data on climate change project;
• Analyze and track MIS reports for improved programming;
• Collaboration with relevant MOH departments;
• Work closely with relevant department to ensure project activities are well synchronized with other Tunza strategies
• Ensure accurate and timely reporting on project deliverables;
• Ensure proper documentation of best practices and lessons learnt;
• Effectively manage the climate change budget; and
• Manage, develop, mentor and coach the climate change team and ensure excellent performance in the department.

Key Performance Indicators

• Uptake of renewable energy solutions by Tunza providers;
• Access of Tunza providers to the Climate Change Revolving Fund;
• Notable decrease in power outages in participating Tunza facilities
• Improved understanding of healthcare waste management by Tunza providers;
• Improved handling and disposal of healthcare waste management in Tunza facilities

• Academic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or Public HealthProfessional Qualifications: Project Management / Marketing

Experience: At least 6 years’ relevant experience 2 of which must be at managerial level
