Job description
BFA’s Financial Adjacencies practice seeks to use financial services to improve how low income people gain access to social and public services such as health, education, water and sanitation; the practice also seeks to use financial services to improve low income people’s productivity in agriculture, livelihoods and micro/small business. In addition, the practice addresses financial needs of the providers of such services.
Bankable Frontier Associates (BFA) is looking for an Associate who has knowledge one or more areas within the Adjacencies practice, excellent research and project management skills, and enjoys working independently in a high-energy environment.
What you’ll do:
As an Associate, your primary role will include:
Analysis, research and thought leadership with your area of expertise
Engage with clients to understand their needs, deliver high quality content, and sell consulting services
Manage complex, multi stakeholder projects
Support other BFA practice areas (e.g. Client Insights and Business Analytics) and identify how policy relates to other critical parts of the financial service ecosystem.
Additional tasks will depend on project requirements determined by our client-driven work. The job is based in Nairobi, Kenya and may require travel and working with stakeholders around the world.

Skills & Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the position should have the following skills and experience:
- Specific expertise in one of the above development areas
- Experience working with technical experts in a team or project context
- Familiarity with financial inclusion agenda
- Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Ability to manage complex clients and processes
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
- Ability to draft technical reports (using Microsoft Office suite)
- Ability to work effectively while travelling internationally
- Proficiency in Excel
- Familiarity working with different cultures and languages
Master’s degree or higher in Economics, Finance, International Development, Law, or other related areas of academic focus.
4+ years of professional experience working in an international environment
Any of the following will be considered a plus:
Familiarity with statistical analysis
Familiarity with Stata
