Social Worker Job in Kenya – Catholic Diocese of Nakuru Kenya

The Catholic Diocese of Nakuru (CDN) –Integrated Programme for The Handicapped Children (Small Homes Programme), wishes to recruit a highly motivated and competent individual to fill the position of a Social Worker.

Small homes program was initiated in 1980 to coordinate and offer services to the disabled and needy children who are either neglected because of their disability or cannot access basic medical attention or quality education.
The program runs 6 small homes that are located near regular schools in order to offer hostel like accommodation for children

Key Responsibility: Provide guidance and counseling support to individual clients and supporting groups within the programme with utmost professionalism and also at the homes to both the children and affected families.

Key Result Areas

• To prepare narrative report every end of the month following the form at provided.
• To identify and register the most vulnerable disabled children.
• Carry out community mobilization for participatory development activities.
• Assisting in formation of Small Homes groups in the targeted areas.
• Identifying cases that need corrective surgery and liaising with the necessary stakeholders and making necessary referrals.

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Social Work/Community Development from a recognized institution a two year diploma in special training is an added advantage.
• Experience in CBR, Assessment and Inclusive Education.
• Good interpersonal skills, communications, and report writing skills and computer skills.
• Experience from interacting with NGO’s funding agencies and government ministries would desirable.
• MUST have a valid driving license and experience in driving.
