Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Manager will be involved in the following activities:

Planning, implementing, quality control, and status-reporting for a given project to stay a top of critical schedules which include:

  • Making sure the project team has the supplies and human resources necessary to get the project done on-time and on-budget.
  • Helping with recruitment and management of the field-based project team
  • Helping define the scope of the project: preparing the project schedule and updating it as it evolves.
  • Proposing and managing the project budget
  • Identifying and minimizing potential risks to the project timeline and budget.
  • Researching the regulatory landscape relevant to the solution being developed in order to identify relevant policies, taxes and processes required.Investigative research via interviews with various stakeholders in order to clarify assumptions within the business model.
Working with the technology development team to incorporate insights from field‐based research into product and solution design.

Some of the projects will include, but not limited to:
  • Planning and managing the conduct of both household and enterprise surveys within various neighbourhoods in Nairobi. This will include:
  • Design of the survey questionnaires to enable field‐based household via smartphones;
  • Recruitment and direct management of a small team of field‐based survey staff for each neighbourhood;
  • Analysing the surveys’ results and preparing reports summarising the data.
  • Planning and managing a GIS‐based mapping exercise within a neighbourhood, in order to identify and geo‐locate key features within these neighbourhoods.Planning, implementing and managing small and larger field-based pilots of the solution in a selected neighbourhood in Nairobi.
The role will be based from our offices in Nairobi, with the majority of the time will be spent in the neighbourhoods.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • All applicants should be Kenyan nationals;
  • Women candidates are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Entrepreneurship skills and mindset.
  • Fluent in Kiswahili both written and spoken.
  • Good knowledge of the Nairobi area.
  • 2-3 years past experience in the same capacity.
  • 5 years total working experience.
  • Degree or above in relevant field.
  • Persuasive, with the ability to quickly establish rapport with respondents;
  • Curious and intelligent, with the ability to “think outside the box” in finding information.
  • Experienced in managing small teams of peers, with demonstrated leadership skills;
  • Experienced in working hard to achieve deadlines;
  • Experienced in managing budgets;
  • Independent, self‐motivated and ambitious;
  • Highly entrepreneurial and comfortable working within a start‐up environment;
  • Strong in written and spoken English;
  • Computer‐literacy skills with demonstrated experience using Excel, Word, Internet and Email.
