Vacancy Announcement: Program Manager
Scope of Work: Kenya and Rwanda

Our client is UK based commercial provider of PayGo solar systems to rural off-grid communities.
With the widest reach of any provider in sub Saharan Africa, the company is addressing the problem of energy access which affects the 1.3 billion people around the world who lack access to the grid.
They use mobile technology to turn a development challenge into a business challenge through its solar home systems, which allow users to pay for solar power on a pay-as-you-go basis, just like they do for their phones and kerosene.
This provides clean, safe renewable power to families at about half the cost of the kerosene it replaces, without the need for any government subsidies or tariffs.

They combine mobile and solar technologies with other consumer electronics, enabling customers to benefit from a rent-to-buy approach that delivers the benefits of modern technology long before they could save up to purchase it outright

In line with the business demands driven by rapid growth, they are looking for a qualified, highly competent results driven individual to fill the position of a Program Manager.
The role reports to the Vice President.

Job Purpose / Summary: The job holder will be responsible for the project roll out and deployment to the regions (Kenya and Rwanda).
The position exists to ensure smooth management of resources, planning and organizing, project projections and risk evaluation, coordination of project activities and finally utmost achievement of Company commercial and operational targets.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop strategies, tactics, and plans for effective and swift deployment and implementation of Company operational procedures
  • Achieve strong Company and product brand position at deployment and through pick up business operations stage.
  • Monitoring regular work progress with reports towards meeting the project deliverables
  • Generate reports based on facts to be presented before the senior level managers and shareholders.
  • Keeping the project focus in line with detailed project plans
  • Planning and scheduling project timelines in close coordination with the operations team and vendors
  • Oversee full implementation of and achievement of Company expansion and entrepreneurial strategies
  • Plan and organize efficient project deployment ensuring all business operations are handled in light of Company program projections and business operations.
  • Manage operations, client recruitment, customer relations, service delivery, marketing, finance and Logistics and warehousing sections of the program’s operations in Kenya and Rwanda.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in any Business related field.
  • An MBA will be added advantage.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant program / project management experience in a senior management position is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in the solar industry using mobile payment platform is highly desirable.
  • Proven experience in developing value chains and ability to drive a commercial agenda.
  • Experience in managing multi-vendor distributed projects.
  • Experience managing multi-location/cross Geo projects
