Grade: 4Brief Description of Job Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the jobholder will be in charge of the management of all FOSA operations and implementation of business strategies for growth and sustainability while meeting customer needs and expectations.
Organizational Positioning / Relationships: He/ She will be expected to maintain healthy relations between all the Sacco’s internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities and Duties:Business Development
- Initiate and sustain FOSA strategies for growth in line with the overall SACCO strategies and set targets.
- FOSA products’ development and marketing
- Locate or propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners; discovering and exploring opportunities for growth of FOSA.
- Screen potential business deals by analysing market strategies, deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; resolving internal priorities; recommending equity investments.
- Develop negotiating strategies and positions by studying integration of new ventures with SACCO strategies and operations; examining risks and potentials; estimating partners’ needs and goals.
- Close new business deals by coordinating requirements; developing and negotiating contracts; integrating contract requirements with business operations.
- Ensure sound operational knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements governing the SACCO and its operations.
- Ensure compliance through a sound knowledge of SACCO policies, procedures, by-laws, products, services and systems.
- Ensure adherence to correct identification procedures and confidentiality of information that conform to the requirements of the SACCO when accessing member details.
- Ensure that the FOSA branch operates within guidelines given by the management, and supervisory committees.
- Management of FOSA branch activities
- Setting up FOSA stationery, products and tariffs.
- Preparation and analysing of FOSA Management Reports.
- Salary processing for customers.
- Reconciliation of FOSA savings accounts.
- Ensuring posting of all loans, advances, bills Etc. at FOSA branch level.
- Maintenance of records relating to FOSA/BOSA inter-activities.
- Timely payment of fixed deposit interests.
- Ensure maximum uptake of savings products by members.
- Making projections on cash inflows and cash out flows to ensure healthy working capital for day to day running of the FOSA branch.
- Providing FOSA branch cash flow reports to management on a continuous basis and on call when need arises.
- Management of Fixed Deposits Accounts and provision of maturity reports for cash flow planning and projection.
- Liaising with security firms on Cash on Transit.
- Monitoring spending, costs and budgets at FOSA branch level.
- Issuing and replenishing both M-PESA and teller accounts and ensuring daily reconciliations of the same.
- Managing treasury float and ensuring that adequate liquidity is available at all times and the account is reconciled daily.
- Managing M-PESA float and ensuring that the accounts has sufficient float and that M-PESA book is recorded accordingly.
- Managing of M-SACCO float account and ensuring that the funds are always available and the account is reconciled accordingly.
- Enhancing FOSA safety and security of cash (Safes).
- Custodian of treasury key.
- Responsible for customer relations and maintaining the SACCO’s image.
- Promote an environment founded on SACCO values of Customer focus, Integrity, Reliability and Innovation.
- Act as an advocate for SACCO in all dealings with members and staff and present a professional image in all dealings with the public including appropriate dress standards, helpfulness and friendliness.
- Promote a balanced team environment with a focus on continuous improvements, best practice and member focus.
- Ensure maintenance of disciplined and a dedicated workforce of the entire SACCO operations.
- Induction and training of new staff within the FOSA branch.
- Supervision of staff reporting to the FOSA manager.
- Risk Management
- Develop and maintain a risk register for the FOSA branch.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a business related field preferably Accounting/Finance, Economics or Business Administration.
- Membership to a professional body will be an added advantage.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a busy lending environment preferably a financial institution.
Good understanding of internal policies, systems and procedures of Sacco’s.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to read, write, and communicate fluently in English. Must have a good vision and be physically fit.

- Superior knowledge and proficiency in computerized accounting operations like MS Excel

- Environmental Conditions
This role routinely uses standard equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and printers, filling cabinets and shredders.
Job holder may spend a large portion of the day standing or sitting. Minimum physical exertion is required.
