Often you have met graduates
complaining that they have been conned but have you wondered how on earth
educated and knowledgeable job seekers find themselves in this trap?
Fraudsters are very smart, they
are knowledgeable and they very well understand the job market dynamics. Some
of these people were working in big companies and due to their evil ways they
were
fired; and since their CV is dotted with red lines they can’t secure a job
anywhere. They therefore resort to earning their living through dubious means.
Sometimes even people who hold
nice positions in multi nationals engage themselves in these activities and
they scoop millions.
This article is meant to enlighten
job seekers on some of the tricks these conmen/women use on job seekers;
- 1. Once they advertise a job in popular websites and receive applications from 1000s of job seekers they generate a single message which they distribute to all job seekers. This message usually instructs job seekers to send some small amount to be used for medical check up and application processing. Once you send they will give you the date you will go attend the face to face interview, the venue they will give you does not EXIST
Be reminded
that genuine companies don’t demand any money for you to secure a job, any time
you are told to part with money, even if it’s Ksh 100 please don’t, those are
conmen.
- 2. Some conmen masquerade as agents recruiting for companies in Quatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. When they receive your application they will send you a letter of appointment bearing employment number, salaries and terms of employment, then they will go ahead and tell you to send money for VISA processing.
You should be aware that there is no company
that will offer you a job without going through a series of interviews.
3. Another
fraudster will advertise a job in one of the dailies or popular blogs; once you
apply they will respond by instructing you to do a psychometric test offered by
a company associated with them. They will usually give you three links, one of them,
which belong to them, will open but other links will not open. Once you open
that link they will tell you to pay some money and then they send you very EASY
psychometric test. They will send the test for sure but once you have done the
test and submitted it you will never hear from them. YOU HAVE BEEN CONNED
- 4. A very common case involves the police.1000s of job seekers have been conned but some have corrupted and succeeded in securing the job. A fraudster knows how desperate graduates are and once such jobs are advertised they will use all avenues to get you. Some of them will even get access to applicants’ details and they contact you, informing you that they have received your application and due to the large number of applicants you have to pay something so that they can reserve a place for you. Even if you know someone very well never part with any coin to be employed in police, even Jesus was betrayed.
- Sometimes this trick applies in companies like KRA,or public service where several positions are advertised. Usually fraudsters collude with some employees in those institutions so that they can access your details, then they will contact you, mention you by your name and all the details describing you, once you have heard that, if you are desperate you can easily part with something.
We have witnessed cases where even
relatives con their kinsmen and you are not an exception.
