Monitoring and Evaluation Consultancy in Kenya 2015

Request for proposal

Monitoring and Evaluation for wPOWER Hub Project activities

The Green Belt Movement International (USA) has received a grant from the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Oceans & International Environmental & Scientific Affairs (OES) to support the
creation and scaling up of the wPOWER Hub at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace & Environmental Studies (WMI) at the University of Nairobi.

In order to create and empower women clean energy entrepreneurs, the wPOWER Hub at the Wangari Maathai Institute for Peace and Environmental studies developed the Training of Trainer’s Course on Sustainable Clean Energy Entrepreneurship. This course is aimed at nurturing change agents and equipping them with the skills and tools they need to bring about, as Wangari Maathai hoped, community transformation in clean energy, environmental stewardship and livelihood improvement. We are targeting at the moment to conduct trainings in the following nine regions: Maragua, Kiharu, Nyeri South district, Vihiga, Hamisi, Kisumu East, Nyando, Homabay and Ndhiwa.

We are now seeking for consultant services for monitoring and evaluation of the impact of community training on clean energy entrepreneurship in Kenya. This will be assessed through:
Monitor the increase in adoption of clean energy technologies
Monitor and map change in behaviour and practices in the communities as a result of the adoption of clean energy
Monitor and document the change in level of awareness on climate change and linkage to deforestation and clean energy technologies at targeted communities as well as the impact of the trainings.
Collect quantitative and qualitative data on Gender dimensions in relation to energy use and livelihoods opportunities surrounding clean energy solutions.

The proposal could form the basis for future negotiations and ultimately a contract between your firm and the Client. A brief description of the Assignment and its objectives are given in this document.
