Key Functions of the Job
- Maintains an efficient and effective computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance and supporting SOS Children’s Villages Kenya computer systems and Co- workers.
- Designs, installs and maintains LANs, WANs and Network segments.Key performance areas and main responsibilities:
- Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet and ICT systems
- Install and maintain network hardware and software
- Monitor networks to ensure security and availability users
- Evaluate and modify system’s performance
- Identify user needs
- Determine network and systems requirements
- Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment and security
- Ensure network connectivity throughout the LAN/WAN infrastructure
- Perform network address assignment
- Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration
- Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of Active Directory Services
- Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers
- Maintain network servers such as file servers, VPN gateways, intrusion detection systems
- Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches
- Regularly update ICT Inventory
- Design and rollout Preventive Computer Maintenance schedule to ensure computers, laptops and related devices are working effectively
- Constantly train users on ICT Systems, Infra – Structure and ICT Policies
Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Diploma in IT, Computer Science or Related Professional Field
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
- Cyberoam Certified Network & Security Professional
- A minimum of 3 years experience working in a busy LAN/WAN environment
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Customer service orientation and ability to work with minimum supervision
