Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and flexible individual who thrives on numbers and quantitative analysis, coupled with a passion for social impact. The Analytics Strategy Lead will join our Internal
Responsibilities include:
Quantitative project management
- The Analytics Strategy Lead will guide all phases of research and analysis for our various quantitative projects—including the work of our Internal Consulting Unit, M&E team, business intelligence group, and finance. Most projects will include working with staff from the beginning of trial design, through the final steps of cleaning and analyzing data to generate insights for organizational leadership.
- Example projects are diverse and include:
- Building a credit score model for a One Acre Fund country director;
- Working with our logistics team to optimize truck weight and delivery routes of farmers’ seed and fertilizer.
- Observing our M&E in farmers’ fields to understand how we measure output and advise on improvements.
- The ideal candidate will be able to mentor and guide small teams on project execution; the Analytics Strategy Lead is expected to work through other teams and lead by example.
- Staff training and skill development
- The Analytics Strategy Lead will also serve as the key technical resource for the organization. Other teams will consult you for clear guidance and actionable recommendations on quantitative problems, from how to select a survey sample to what model is most appropriate for analysis.
- The ideal candidate will also invest heavily in the long-term professional development of our staff, and raise the overall statistical and data savvy of key departments like Internal Consulting and M&E. This will take the form of project-specific mentorship but also leading analysis trainings for critical staff on the use of R, for example.
- Long-term improvements
- The ideal candidate will be able to assess current One Acre Fund systems and collaborate with others in the organization—such as our software and finance teams—on making long-term improvements, such as developing financial quality assurance systems that are easy-to-use or identifying and correcting mismatched longitudinal data.
- With success in the role, the Analytics Strategy Lead will also gradually build out an in-house analytics unit to take on larger-scope projects.
- Success in this role depends on an even mix of flexibility, humility, and gravitas to take on a wide variety of projects while raising One Acre Fund’s overall data literacy. Our Analytics Strategy Lead will face a fast-paced and diverse set of projects, with the potential to impact hundreds of thousands of farmers through ensuring that One Acre Fund makes increasingly smart use of data.

Experience in entrepreneurial or unstructured environments is a plus, and we ideally seek a demonstrated passion for international development. Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:

- Top-performing undergraduate background (please include GPA and test scores on your resume)
- Humility. We are looking for passionate professionals who combine strong leadership skills with good humor, patience, and a humble approach to service to join our growing family of leaders.
