Credit Controller

Reporting to the Chief Executive officer, the Credit Controller will oversee all collections activities to ensure the timely collection of the company’s debtors’ book in order to optimise cash flow, minimize
risk and reduce outstanding debtor’s book to an acceptable level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all monies owed to the Company are promptly collected in accordance with the stipulated credit terms and other arrangements
  • Liaising with all Departments and Branches to ensure debtors are properly managed
  • Ensuring that reconciliations with intermediaries as well as direct accounts are carried out accurately and in a timely manner
  • Following up on long outstanding debts and reviewing delinquent accounts for payments
  • Supervise Commission processing for intermediaries
  • Produce various reports required by the Credit Control Committee and act as the secretary of the Credit Control Committee
  • Coordinating the Credit Control Team to ensure that both Internal & External customers are well served
  • Ensure timely production and dispatch of monthly statements to all intermediaries
  • Proper record of all IPF forms sent to various institutions and receipt of premium financing within the stipulated time
  • Regular review of the company’s written credit policy to ensure it remains sound and current in line with the market, legislation and other development
  • Provide analysis of each brokers/agents statements for debt follow up and passing of credit notes by underwriters
  • Recommend alternative collection techniques and strategies to effectively minimize and control arrears
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by management.
Key Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
  • Bachelors of Commerce degree or degree in a business related discipline
  • Qualified Accountant (CPA-K), ACCA or equivalent
  • A minimum of 5 years’ progressive Impressive experience and demonstrable track record in credit control
  • Good team player with excellent organizational, planning and multitasking skills
  • Highly developed MS Office and accounting packages proficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team oriented and collaborative environment
  • Strong work ethic as well as the maturity and confidence to deal professionally with management, staff and external parties.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High levels of integrity and accuracy
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to develop good customer relations
