Job description
Reporting to the Head of Sales & Marketing the Sales Manager will be responsible for providing
strategic leadership and implementing agreed agency strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Identify new sales opportunities and leads for selling of Acre Africa’s relevant products and services
- Track performance and training of Account managers
- Development of sales strategy in line with business plan and organization objectives
- Development of the annual marketing plans and budgets, specifically advising on: realistic forecasts for each product and territory (based on historical data, market trends, competitive activity, promotional strategy and sales effort) and realistic costs of operating the sales force
- Responsible for obtaining profitable results through the sales team by developing the team through motivation, counselling, skills development and product knowledge development.
- Develop and maintain market agents
- Support Account Managers in interpretation of strategy and leadership in channel development
- Meet time deadlines for premium payment and insurance policy documentation
- Conduct and file reports on market research
- Management of client meeting notes and files
- Responsible management of company’s assets
- Protects organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
Required skills and competencies
- Excellent organization, planning and management abilities
- Strong budgeting and financial skills (Ability to meet targets and manage expenditure)
- Effective problem solving and mediation skills.
- Good analytical decision making skills based on critical thinking
- Strong skills in planning and time management
- Has to be a self starter, self motivated and able to perform well without immediate supervision
- 4years + experience in sales management or business development in an insurance company or insurance broker
- Ideally University Degree in Commerce, Economics or other relevant business degree
- Advanced degree, ideally an MBA Associate Diploma in Insurance
- Professional qualifications in sales and marketing an added advantage
- Experience in developing and executing sales strategies and business analysis
- Experience in micro insurance and Agency management is an added advantage
- Knowledge of the Kenyan agricultural sector is an added advantage.
- Experience in various African countries especially in East Africa a plus, but not mandatory
- Experience within the Insurance industry is a preferred
- Experience in Agri-business preferred but not essential
