Our client is a reputable 5 star internationally recognized hotel based in Nairobi. They have an outstanding career opportunity for a Head of HR to join their company.
Hotel Head of HR Key Responsibilities
- Develop and update human resources policies and procedures and administer the company’s human resources strategy in Liaison with the top management.
- Offer HR support and advice to the Leadership team and ensure compliance with the labour legislation and company policies on the decisions implemented.
- Recruitment and selection, management of all procedures therein up to and including drawing up and running comprehensive induction programs, and management of training programmes Responsible for internal communication on HR matters to staff to keep them updated on the various initiatives the business is undertaking that is affecting them.
- Identify staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained and impact of training evaluated
- Developing and preparing human resources operations financial/ budgeting strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions and finally minimizing the impact of variances
- Overall responsibility for all HR functions ensuring that the department is a proactive and efficient unit
- Oversee the HR administration section in regard to timesheet, leave and payroll management, etc
- Ensure efficient administration of staff welfare programs i.e. medical, pension and welfare
- Develop and implement administrative support systems to provide support to the company’s core activities
- Managing the organization HRIS system and ensuring its updated accordingly
- Implementation and continuously reviewing and improving the performance management system.
- Implementing effective change and organizational development initiatives to facilitate the development of an appropriate dynamic culture in line with the Company’s strategy and value system.
- Implementation of remuneration strategy and appropriate terms and conditions of employment to ensure that the company attracts and retains a motivated workforce through carrying out of salary surveys and use of said data to review the compensation of employees including coordinating opinion surveys.
- Management of staff benefits including staff medical, pension and group life schemes.
- Oversee employee health and safety and implement welfare and wellness initiatives.
- Implement disciplinary procedures, advice line managers on disciplinary action and make recommendations, where applicable
- Prepares reports and recommends procedures to reduce absenteeism and turnover.
- Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms, or relocation services.
- Bachelor’s degree in HR Management or related discipline preferred.
- At least 10 years of professional experience across all HR disciplines, including employment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, training and development, workers compensation and conflict resolution.
- Experience working with a diverse workforce.
- Prior experience working with a 5 star hotel is a big plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, to a diverse audience.
- Proven success in Planning, organizing and prioritizing work.
- Ability to demonstrate the highest level of ethical behavior.
- Flexible in order to adapt to changes in work environment.
- Ability to study and apply new information, and take initiative.
- Excellent time-management, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
- Work accurately with close attention to detail.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Possess a work ethic that includes neatness, punctuality and accuracy.
- Exhibit a professional, businesslike appearance and demeanor.
- Basic computer skills, including e-mail, word processing and spreadsheets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with the workforce.
