Position: East African Regional HeadReporting to:

Department: SalesOur client is a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialisation of prescription medicines, primarily for the treatment of cardiovascular, metabolic, respiratory, inflammation, autoimmune, oncology, infection and neuroscience diseases.
They operate in over 100 countries and its innovative medicines are used by millions of patients worldwide.
In East Africa they are represented in four countries i.e Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Uganda. Kenya is the hub of East Africa business and offers marketing & sales support to the rest of the EAC community.
They are seeking to recruit an experienced East African Regional Head.
Key Purpose of Role: Develop and lead a first class effective and cohesive East African Regional (EA) team and provide ongoing motivation.
Manage the performance of the EA sales and marketing, by driving and co-ordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives and policies, as directed by the overall SSA strategy.
Implement programs to ensure the attainment of the EA business plan for growth and profit and provide direction and structure for the region. Selects & Develops talent to ensure strong succession planning that is aligned to the expect growth for the East African countries
Key Performance Areas:
Manage team effectiveness and engagement: Appoint, build and maintain a first class effective and cohesive EA team and provide ongoing motivation to a diversely representative team of individuals
Develop strategic business plan and provision of leadership: Successfully communicate the SSA business plan as approved by CP and align EA countries with SSA and company goals; define actions to build team capabilities
Manage achievement of strategic business plan: Effectively work with the various functions i..e SFE; L&D; Market Access; Medical & Regulatory to ensure achievement of strategic business plan for East Africa within agreed timelines
Financial budgeting and control: Consolidate feedback and forecasts from country managers and provide quarterly forecasts on the budget and projected year end spend, re-evaluating the budget in line with priorities, market conditions and a thorough understanding the market place
Maintain administrative systems and control: Ensure effective, accurate and co-ordinated systems are in place for monitoring and controlling the region’s performance against business plan and budget
Personal effectiveness and Alignment of personal and company values: Maintain current knowledge of the organisation policies and procedures, Codes and legislative requirements. Align with the values and vision of the organisation. Facilitate the development of a diverse and harmonious working environment and actively encourage the development of the organisation culture
Adverse Event reporting: Report any adverse event that you become aware of with our product within 24 hours to the patient safety department and management accountabilities in the region
Safety, Health and Environment: Comply fully with the standards and practices of the company designed to promote a safe and healthy working environment, and identify and communicate ways to continually improve SHE performance
Protect and enhance the long-term Company performance and reputation by doing the right thing and ensuring that this culture is instilled with all employees in the Region.
Minimum Requirements:
10 years sales and marketing experience at management level (industry experience a distinct advantage)
Relevant tertiary business qualification an advantage
Proven management experience – driving performance, engaging and motivating the team, winning the ‘right way’
Track record of identifying and installing correct processes and structure
The successful candidate need to be based in Nairobi, Kenya
