Reporting to the Senior Manager – Talent & Resourcing, the role holder will raise the bar on talent by developing and executing the performance and talent management tactics aligned to the Safaricom talent strategy, enabling us to deliver on our employer brand. This is by building a talent pipeline that is as diverse as the communities and customers we serve to ensure we have a robust succession pipeline enabling business continuity.


Develop and embed systems to strengthen talent pipeline and improve rigor of identification and assessment;
Manage the talent identification and nominations cycle and ensure standardized implementation across the business for all divisions;
Design & Implement frameworks for staff nominated to the Talent pool and work closely with HRBP’s and line managers to identify opportunities to take up international and cross functional assignments;
Identify, know and develop Safaricom Rising Stars at senior manager level including facilitating and tracking moves/development initiatives;
Build a leadership pipeline that improves the depth and readiness of talent across the organization to meet the needs of accelerating organizational growth.
Build and own ongoing management of succession and actions plans for divisional leadership teams, F band development roles including influencing resourcing where necessary to ensure appropriate borrow/build mix to support pipeline;
Deliver workshops to new line managers on best practice on performance management, talent identification and diversity awareness;
Deliver the annual Performance Dialogue cycle for the organization and continuously drive a high performance culture through up or out etc;
Shape the Safaricom talent strategy together Senior Manager T&R and division HRBP, aligned to business objectives including looking beyond senior manager levels and Rising Stars;
Represent Safaricom talent agenda in regional talent forums and act as implementation lead for centrally managed talent roll outs incl. systems upgrades;
Support Senior Manager Talent on SLT related talent activity;
Focus on creating diversity of business across the business beyond gender to persons with disabilities and other minority groups from both a talent management and resourcing perspective;
Manage relationships with both local and international stakeholders – Recruitment firms/Vodafone /pre-screening agencies etc;
Produce progress reports and statistical analysis as required on performance, talent management and diversity metrics against initiatives undertaken.

Desired Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree and Higher National Diploma in HRM;
8 years’ experience within Human Resources with a minimum of 5 years of experience identifying, designing, and implementing talent management solutions;
Experience in coaching staff and line managers on best performance and talent management principles/practices;
Able to quickly build trust and coach talent ranging from senior business leaders to individual contributors;
Effectively manages multiple stakeholders;
Experience of working in an international complex matrix structure and fast paced environment;
