Mumias Sugar Company is Kenya’s leading producer of sugar and diversified products which include Ethanol and Bottled Water. The Company also generates significant quantities of electricity which is exported to the National Grid.

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the job holder will co-ordinate and support corporate planning, budget control and business performance management activities in line with MSC’s strategic objectives.
Primary Responsibilities:
To lead the preparation and monitoring of the delivery of MSC’s corporate strategy, business plan, working with Directors of departments to co-ordinate all inputs and ensure a cohesive and consistent approach.
To develop and maintain necessary arrangements for meaningful corporate performance management reporting/monitoring
Working closely with the Chief of Financial services and the Chief Executive Officer , oversee the preparation and maintenance of MSC’s financial strategy and projections of income and expenditure
To provide advice to EXCOM and managers across the business on business planning, financial strategy, capital strategy, performance and risk management.
To lead on the development and implementation of policies for business planning, performance and risk management
To develop, implement and maintain a framework for effective business planning to reflect corporate policies, strategies, and programmes for MSC, and to integrate service, financial and performance targets
Monitor and evaluate for compliance actual expenditures against approved budget on a continuing basis and report to Top Management and the Board of Directors on status.
Monitor budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, expenses are within budget limits and fiscal practices are followed.
Play key role in expenditure approval process as part of budgetary implementation and control
Review on a continuing basis current status and latest outlook of the Key Business Drivers – raw material inflows; brand mix; operational/manufacturing parameters; costs; revenue inflows; internal business controls and advice Top Management on viable alternatives for review and decision making.
Analyze a variety of financial information including revenues, expenditures, cash management and cost projections for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds, and ensuring overall operations are within approved budget.
Cross functionally work with directors of departments, heads of sections and all employees to ensure business goals are achieved in an expeditious manner
Experience and Skills:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Bachelor of Commerce – Finance Option
Master of Business Administration -Strategic Management
8 years’ relevant experience 4 of which must be in a senior management role.
