The Program provides fellowships for African born academics in Canada and the United States to engage with African institutions of higher education in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and South Africa. The Program Coordinator serves as the central “information hub” of the CADFP between USIA-Africa, the Advisory Council, the Institute for International Education (IIE), and the Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY).
Program Coordinator Job Responsibilities In Kenya
- Administrative: Coordinating the activities and meetings of the Advisory Council, program building and outreach activities; working with USIU-Africa to monitor project budgets; and working with IIE and CCNY on program-related activities.
- Enhancing Program Collaborations: Facilitation of multi-directional exchanges among fellowship applicants and recipients; promoting engagement for program fellows, alumni, and other interested parties; coordinating program-related events at scholarly association meetings; and enhancing collaborations with similar diaspora programs in Africa, and elsewhere including Europe and North America.
- Promoting Program Development: Identifying new funding opportunities, writing grants, and coordinating the program development activities of the Chair and other members of the Advisory Council; conducting and commissioning institutional analyses and research studies, as directed by the Advisory Council, to strengthen the program.
- Knowledge Production: Oversee the development and dissemination of scholarly products for the fellows and alumni of the program; develop a repository of scholarship on diaspora linkages; work with IIE and other organizations dedicated to diaspora issues in developing a growing database on African diaspora academics.
Qualifications For Program Coordinator Jobs In Kenya
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:- At least a Master’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited university.
- Experience working at an administrative level in a complex organization; experience with the not-for-profit sector including philanthropic or academic institutions is desirable.
- Experience with similar transnational fellowships programs.
- Budget management and donor reporting experience.
- Excellent grant-writing and fund-raising skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with African diaspora issues will be an added advantage.
