The Kenya Association of Travel Agents (KATA) in a membership
association that represents the needs of the Travel Agent community in Kenya.
KATA works to enhance and improve the Travel
Industry business climate in Kenya by promoting the services of her
members to the general public, protecting their rights and assisting them to
optimize their businesses.
The Association seeks to fill the position of the Marketing,
Communication & Events Coordinator.
SUMMARY OF ROLE:
Managing events calendar for the year including planning,
budgeting and overall event execution. Events include
annual general meeting,
industry and stakeholder meetings, social events, industry trainings, etc.
Manage all monthly and annual publications and projects;
Negotiating and securing industry sponsorships for events and
maximizing value from those opportunities;
Managing communications with a strong focus on website and
digital communications;
Managing external publicity and media and developing
strategies to ensure continuous positive exposure;
Overseeing and ensuring timely data from marketing and
communications campaigns and events is provided with a focus on ROI;
Preparing and managing relevant budgets and reconciliations.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPEREINCE
Relevant qualifications in Communications, Marketing or
similar;
Minimum 3 years’ experience in marketing, communications and
event management;
Exceptional command of the English language;
Strong communication (oral & written) interpersonal
skills;
Experience directly related to the duties and
responsibilities specified including marketing and communication strategy and
techniques, budgeting, selling and account management, relationship building,
strategic planning, business development, events and public relations;
Willingness to work ‘out of hours’ to meet the objectives of
the role when required;
Proven track record in project or event management
Social Media experience (Twitter, Facebook, Blogging, etc)
Passion of customer service and relationship
management/development;
Working knowledge of the travel industry is an added
advantage;
Patience, energy and sense of humour.
