Supply Chain Operations Manager Job in Kenya


Reporting into the OSI Supply Execution Manager, the Supply Operations Manager will be responsible for all Supply Chain activities within the country. Based out of their offices in East Johannesburg the Supply Operations Manager will in effect execute all activity with the third party co-packers and logistics agents. The incumbent will also analyse, verify and improve the demand planning process and execute plan in conjunction with overall business vision including S&OP
execution.

In doing this the Supply Operations Manager will effect these key deliverables:

Manage outsourced production and logistics, leading contract negotiations, ensure its implementation and performance follow up. Owns, controls and co-ordinates the operations and the production plans between the company and its 3P Co-packers and logistics suppliers.
In doing so, the SOM will implement, manage and enhance forecast to stock processes with 3P Co-packers (agreeing sourcing contracts, documenting operational manuals, defining sales order flows, agreeing production planning, transport, customer requirements)

Manages daily operations: production, transportation and warehousing of all products. This will
include setting production and logistics KPI’s and regular follow-up (weekly and monthly) in order to measure performance. You will be required to monitor forecasts and identify trends and changes that will affect the supply chain

The SOM will manage the entire portfolio of finished goods, whilst maintaining and developing continuous improvement techniques in line with Just in Time practices, in addition to providing Operational and Strategic direction to both Co-packers and the company’s stakeholders. Supporting Customer Service and the Commercial teams daily operations by providing information to enable an effective Order to Cash process (operational expertise, master data, process, stock management, transport, problem solving and complaints management)

You will be required to build and develop systems, processes and technology requirements for the success of new product development, material master data and product management. You will contributes to continuous improvement of processes by analyzing, resourcing allocation and productivity and proposing improvements in-conjunction with rest of the company’s stakeholders and 3P co-packer and logistics partners whilst achieving KPI’s, providing awareness of his/her areas of responsibility to management. Involved in NPD projects, supporting Marketing & Sales teams in the development of new products and coordinating implementation with 3P co-packers.

Apart from daily operations, he/she is also involved in other improvement projects if the business so requires, being the source of information for all questions linked to production, warehousing and logistics

The Successful Applicant

To be successful in this position the Supply Operations Manager will have the following skills :


  • Bachelor degree in business administration
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and drive business agenda
  • Ability to think strategically
  • A broad FMCG business knowledge with at least 5 years experience at middle and senior management level on logistics and operations management (with exposure to both commercial and operations areas, including manufacturing and logistics)
  • Excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills, effective at working cross culturally
  • Good prioritisation skills, able to manage multiple pieces of works and requirement
  • Ability to manage complexity
  • People management skills, including ability to effectively coach and develop people
  • Fluent English
  • Proven IT skills in SAP and Microsoft applications
