Import & Export Officer Job in Kenya


Job Title: Import & Export Officer

Our client designs, manufactures, and sells highly and affordable vehicles for Africa’s mass market.
They are looking to fill the position of an Import and Export officer to facilitate the shipment of items
to and from the company.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities
  • Manage ex-warehousing processes through payment of duties, exports and temporary removals for body building, exhibitions, displays etc.
  • Manage customs security bonds status (reporting, monitoring, execution, processing, cancellation and discharges).
  • Prepare and submit reports to Customs Authority, resolving & closing all customs issues/queries once raised.
  • Coordinate with Sales Department to ensure documentation for vehicle inspection and registration are provided on time to meet customer deadlines.
  • Customs record management as well as manage end to end customs clearance process for vehicle registration.
  • Work with contracted assemblers Customs Bond Keeper and Customs representative to ensure seamless flow of production materials and vehicle movement documentation.
  • Prepare documents for Customs Audits as requested by the Customs Authority.
  • General management of Customs Bonded warehouse operations as stipulated in the EACCMA and or any other legal instruments.
  • Confirm accuracy of declaration and authenticity of warehousing and import entries as well as all other supporting documentation.
  • Develop and update internal control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with EACCMA.
  • Take ownership of all customs related issues, advice key milestones, timelines, and cost implication as well as identify potential risks.
Qualifications and education required
  • A Degree or a Diploma in Logistics/Supplies or any other related field
  • 5+ years related experience in Customs operations preferably in the Automotive Industry
  • Formal training in EACCMA and related procedures
  • A good understanding of CKD procedures and operations
  • Ability to take leadership and own complex customs issues and be able to work with Government officers to come up with clear way forward
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Exceptional integrity and a strong sense of ethics
  • Ability to effectively communicate timelines for both internal and external customers
