*Job Description:

The Communication Advisor will work with the Deputy Chief of Party to implement the MEASURE Evaluation PIMA communication strategy and share the project’s accomplishments with key project stakeholders. The Communication Advisor will lead efforts to create and deliver news and know-how to internal and external audiences. Information may be delivered in the form of e-newsletters, web content, and other communication material as necessary. In addition, this position will work closely with the Knowledge Management Specialist based in Chapel Hill on technical knowledge management, branding, editing, design, layout and production support. The Communication Advisor will ideally have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and have at least five years’ experience working with donor funded programs. This is a full time position.

Key Responsibilities: 50% /Material Development/: Assist in the creation and delivery of news and other information to audiences both internal and external to MEASURE Evaluation PIMA through periodic communication. The Communication Advisor will work with technical staff to develop communication plans for specific information products, write feature success stories, best practices and useful know-how in various areas of M&E as a health system strengthening intervention and conduct photography and videography of project activities to support feature stories. The Communication Advisor will also manage MEASURE Evaluation PIMA Web site content, keeping information current by working closely with the MEASURE Evaluation PIMA team.

50%/Coordinate communication efforts: /Coordinate closely with USAID/Kenya Communication Working Group to gather and share information for agency purposes. Communicate with PIMA community of practice members on a regular basis about project highlights and emerging developments in health system strengthening. Coordinate conference logistics where project has a presence. Develop presentation materials. Exhibit on behalf of MEASURE Evaluation PIMA at conferences and events.

Qualification and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, English or similar experience
  • At least five years relevant experience in print, digital and social media, working with printers and promotional products agencies and working with USAID or other international donors
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with strong proofreading skills Experience with translating and composing technical information for broad audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to execute communication plans
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to work independently, and as team member
