We are recruiting a Director of Program and Project Management (minimum 2 year contract) for an extensive project role based in our Nairobi office. You’ll be tasked with performing a wide range of duties including the planning, organisation, leadership and control of various programs of work and projects in Africa.
This will require significant travel and variable hours of work. This role could interest an ex-pat looking for an exciting career move into the heart of mobile payments Africa.
Remuneration will be discussed with the suitable candidate.
Skills & Experience
- Extensive Programme / Project Management experience
- Formal project management qualification i.e (Prince2, PMI)
- Stakeholder / Change Management
- Personnel management experience
- Demonstrated success in Development, Management, Implementation and Evaluation of programmes
- Business Process / Improvement experience
- Strong Project Management skills in multi-faceted projects.
- CMS Project experience
- Knowledge of Mobile Money, Mobile Payments and Retail Point of Sale rollouts with Tier 1 merchants is a must
- Successfully coordinate multiple projects, completing them on time, on budget and exceeding customer expectations.
- Establish clear Business Processes Ownership and Governance ensuring that Owners and Leads are identified and have suitable responsibility.
- Support Business Process Owners and Business Process Leads to identify and prioritize business requirements.
- Create a set of Blueprints for project delivery “Mobilis Business Process Blueprints”, these blue prints should be used to standardize the delivery process and will be a guide for project teams to use to deliver outstanding project management.
- Align project requirements with Mobilis template “Business Process Blueprints”, while continuously improving the quality of the BPB’s.
- Manage relationship with project stakeholders, including internal and external partners, keeping stakeholders informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on all project requirements and deliverables.
- Ensure each project has a clear governance framework and project management framework.
- Manage and communicate a clear vision of the project’s objectives, and motivate the project team to achieve objectives; create a project environment that enables peak performance by team members.
- Identify appropriate tools for project management ensuring that each team can collaborate, report and track tasks and costs.
- Proactively identify changes in work scope and ensure appropriate planning measures are taken with internal and external stakeholders to reassess and amend the scope of work requirements, budget and timeline.
- Analyze risk, establish contingency plans and identify trigger events and responsibilities for initiating mitigating actions.
- Ensure each project has an appropriate risk register and that these risks are tracked accordingly.
- Determine what constitutes successful closure for all parties. Gain acceptance and sign-off by all parties when closure is attained.
- Ensure that the project work stream is fully integrated in the overall IT Program plan at all times.
- Partner with the individual teams across the business process areas, the IT functions, external partners and service providers as well as key stakeholders external to MSA as appropriate to drive the project.
- Coach to clarify assignments and deliverables to project team; review quality of work and manage integration of team members’ work; provide performance input to project team members’ functional management.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve communication and streamline processes.
- Identify and maintain list of lessons learned and share those lessons with team members and management as appropriate.
- Estimate or assist in estimation of project cost.
- Track scope and priority changes and their impact on the cost/timeframe of the project delivery.
- Track errors and delays and determine how they impact the project from a cost and potential business impact point of view.
- Assure project legal documents are completed and signed.
- Budget responsibly through the project life until turnover ensure yourself and team members are time sheeting all time on each project both chargeable and non chargeable and that this time is clearly marked accordingly.
