Main Purpose of the Job

Procurement Manager Marketing Materials – is responsible for Supply Market Insights, Material Supply Strategy, contract negotiation and managing end to end operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and drive Unilever procurement strategies, policies and trading standards for a specific set of globally managed categories
  • Establish clear and measurable goals that challenge procurement to continuously improve; to use financial and quantitative data to manage performance
  • Lead the procurement organization to meet goals and objectives in support to the overall Unilever strategy
  • Lead or co-ordinate large procurement projects him/herself as needed
  • Deliver cost savings based on sourcing strategies and compliance management
  • Drive implementation of the identified metrics, tools and processes to optimise procurement activities
  • Handle complex and diverse customer, supplier or operational issues where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercise judgement within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Lead the rationalization of suppliers, materials and services that meet Unilever’s business requirements
  • Develop, coach and mentor resources within a high performing and motivated team responsible for interfacing with internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives and represent Unilever’s interests in the management of external strategic relationships
  • Identify, develop and managed strategic business relationships to enable implementation of the Unilever growth strategy, revenue achievement and new product development initiatives
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers
  • Identify and build strategic partnerships and alliances with selected key suppliers
  • Support the Procurement Operations Director by providing timely and accurately assistant on the relevant topics as needed
  • Deliver business partner role of the Procurement organization towards the rest of the business. Lead the procurement function to ensure that other functional areas (e.g. Marketing, R&D, Supply Chain) receive quality, timely procurement service and assistance
  • Ensure early ‘Inside Out’ supply management involvement in category innovation and supply chain projects, acting as the Procurement point of contact in brand / category / product groups / supply chain teams
  • Deliver agreed innovations to the market on time and in full
  • Represent Procurement in the non-innovation driven category projects (e.g. material cost optimization, speed to market, complexity management, etc)
  • Act as a custodian of the category relationship with Portfolio/Network/Category Procurement Managers (Materials market facing/Category Operations Proc) – in particular on innovation project management, VIP programmes, Complexity Management and Customer Service
  • Ensure alignment between category needs and supply market capabilities
  • Influence suppliers strategies to fulfil category business goals
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and establish sources for new technologies and new markets dictated by business requirements
  • Devise and drive implementation of the category Procurement VIP programme
  • Supports the Materials Procurement teams in leveraging effectively external relationships to support the innovation process
  • Drive implementation of the Complexity Management programme, being accountable for coordinating and project management of the relevant complexity management initiatives
  • Provide input to Supply Chain analysis on materials and suppliers, drawing on expertise of the Procurement teams facing different supply markets
  • Share leading practices and lessons learnt across the different category teams, ensuring the usage of consistent methodologies and pursue deliverables that are aligned with Unilever strategic objectives
Keys Skills and Qualifications
  • University Graduate
  • 6-8yrs of relevant procurement experience preferably in reputable MNC & or FMCG & or Large local corporate.
  • Prior experience in Developing &Emerging markets are an added advantage.
  • Prior Experience in Marketing Services or Marketing Materials is an advantage
