You should have a strong marketing background with complementary communication skills in order to lead brand development, work with channel partners, and driving sales effectiveness.
You will interact regularly with our R&D, Sales, and Operations teams and achieve specific performance targets.This position will play a leadership role, influencing regional corporate strategy and our success across sub-Saharan Africa.
You will be one of our key managers and will receive a fixed salary and competitive benefits, with bonuses based on performance.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Brand development: Formulate value proposition and identify at a strategic level, then mobilize it by developing relevant consumer communications and engagement strategies to support our sales force and partner channels and target customers across Kenya and new markets.
  • Brand Activation: Conceptualize and oversee execution of brand activation activities through our sales team and partner channels.
  • Community Management: Lead community-building efforts for our sales force to establish a sense of mission and identity amongst the last-mile sales agents who sell our products.
  • Corporate Marketing: Establish as a trusted partner and leader in providing off-grid solutions to households, businesses, and individuals without reliable or affordable energy access through knowledge and insights reporting, social media and press engagement, development of awards and industry affiliations.
  • Consumer and Market Insights: Conduct rigorous quantitative and qualitative primary market research on customer attitudes and segmentations, buying behaviors, social impact, brand and product satisfaction, and new marketing opportunities. Serve as the firm’s consumer and markets knowledge center and consumer advocate in strategic decision-making.
Ideal Candidate Characteristics
  • At least 5 years in high-level strategic marketing/ brand manager roles with mass-market products. We’re looking for demonstrated high-level creative and entrepreneurial strengths leveraging deep consumer understanding to design and drive mass-market, consumer-focused communications strategies and go-to-market plans.
  • Strong analytical market research experience. Demonstrated experience using statistical models and data-based reasoning to design market research and deliver useful, often complex quantitative and qualitative insights.
  • A good communicator and a great listener. A clear written communicator. An ability to understand consumers intimately well by listening, empathizing and asking the right questions.
  • An entrepreneur and creative visionary.
  • Project and team management ability. Experience managing multiple, concurrent projects through internal teams and external creative and activation firms. A proven ability to direct (and sometimes redirect) projects to deliver precise, high-quality, and on-time deliverables.
  • Experience managing workflows across a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize, synthesize information, and follow through to see initiatives to completion
  • Driven to succeed in a start up environment, including working long hours to propel our mission forward and to change millions of lives
  • Experience in the private sector with an international team a plus
  • University Degree in a Business & Marketing-Related Field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps
  • Fluency in Swahili preferred
