RB Job Vacancy : Head of Key Accounts – Kenya


About the role

RB Kenya has an exciting opportunity for Head of Key Accounts within their Sales Department. The major focus on the role will be to drive the profitable growth and development of Reckitt Benckiser business in Modern Trade Kenya, ensuring that all initiatives are consistent with the company’s overall strategy, and that Reckitt Benckiser retains and consolidates its market leadership position in the country. To build a strong, motivated, internationally oriented and effective team capable of meeting the challenges of delivering Reckitt Benckiser growth strategy in the country

Responsibilities
  • To devise, plan and agree a clear, detailed and focused strategy for the business and lead its implementation, meeting agreed revenue and profit targets. To ensure effective communication of goals and objectives throughout the organisation
  • Achieve In Market Sales, Net Revenue, & Trade Spend targets for the portfolio of customers
  • Achieve account 4P targets (Product, Placement, Price & Promotion)
  • Manage Distributor and direct report’s effectively by keeping track of their performance and budgets / expenditures. Ensure Distributor achieves objectives of sales, deliveries & cash collections effectively
  • Provide challenge within a Category Business Team from a customer perspective
  • Establish short, mid and long term objectives, and sets adequate operating plans for future developments
  • Allocate resources to achieve the balance between short and long term growth & profits
  • Achievement of account sales and trade investment targets for allocated accounts
  • Secure trading and distribution/promotion agreements in line with nominated major account’s profile (including share of shelf/visibility at POS/Distribution penetration across product range/ Retail Pricing/Consumer and Trade Promotions and Discounts
  • Build strong commercial relationship with senior members of the Trade
Desired Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in a tightly managed, results-oriented FMCG business with a real focus on quality and product innovation
  • Clear evidence of success in Sales Management in developing and profitably expanding a business
  • Experienced in both Key Account Management as well as in Distributor Management
  • A proven ability to grow a business through innovation in tough markets
  • Proven track record of managing the P&L, excellent ability to manage Trade Spend & ROIs
  • Graduate preferably with an additional business qualification or a first degree in business administration – from a recognised University
  • Knowledge of the FMCG industry in Kenya and direct experience with major retailers/Key Accounts will be an advantage
  • A strategic thinker, you possess the confidence to effectively deliver account plans.
  • You’ll demonstrate financial and commercial acumen and strategic thinking, be analytical and creative
  • Confident and capable of operating at all levels, good team player. Experience of developing high performing teams
  • The ability to build effective relationships both internally and externally will be a key part to your success, so you must be able to demonstrate a range of influencing styles and techniques.
  • An interest and passion for entrepreneurship is critical.
