PAC University Editor and Graphic Designer

PAC (Pan Africa Christian) University, a Chartered Private University, is seeking to fill the position outlined below from suitable candidates.
Applicants must be born again Christians and active members of a local Church.

Job Title: Editor

The Editor will be in-charge of editing and proofreading publications and ensure that material is clear and consistent, complete and credible, and that text is well written, grammatically correct and
accessible.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: an earned Master’s Degree in Communication, Media studies or related field from a recognized institution;
• A minimum of 5 years progressive experience in a similar position
• Strong leadership skills that promote teamwork, growth and excellence;
• Good in managing time and strict adherence to deadlines
• Fluent in both English and Kiswahili
• Understand and adhere to PAC University Statement of Faith.

Key Responsibilities for the Editor

• Editing and proof reading of all publications for the University
• Revising and upgrading all existing publishing house books in preparation for reprinting
• Oversee publication production, including artwork, layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget requirements
• Evaluating manuscripts for possible publication by Evangel Publishing House and working closely with the authors to make manuscripts publishable
• Preparing evaluation reports and corresponding with authors
• Planning and participating in moderation workshops with authors
• Tracking new opportunities and writing publishing proposals for new products.
• Planning and managing the publishing schedules and workshops
• Supervising the process of outside customer jobs
• Involvement in deliberations and follow up with the Publishing Advisory Committee
• Any other duties as may be assigned

Job Title: Graphic Designer

Reporting to the Manager Evangel Publishing House, the Graphic Designer will be responsible for the designing of all publications for the University.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: an earned Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic design, communication or related discipline
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in graphic design
• Strong experience working with Adobe creative suite/master collection, photoshop, illustrator InDesign and any other design software and systems
• Must provide skill set evidence of digital portfolio or prior work completed
• Excellent PC skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
• Demonstrate creativity and innovative skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Sound judgement and decision making skills
• Understand and adhere to PAC University Statement of Faith

Key Responsibilities for the Designer

• Text formatting, proofreading, concept development, page design and layout, image editing and colour management.
• Responsible for completion of all production steps from concept through creation of final design and any associated file deliveries for print or digital application
• Participation in meetings to discuss concept presentations as part of the development process for rough concepts to final design
• Utilizes all available design tools to develop and present creative concepts through final design files
• Facilitates relationships with outside print production and product fulfilment vendors
• Works with the marketing team to monitor changing brand requirements and styles
• Design, develops, edits and helps produce internal employee communications in order to relay organization strategies, policies and other activities.
• Performs required tasks on a scheduled basis while adhering to budget constraints
• Maintains a professional image and adheres to standards consistent with the University’s policies and procedures
• Liaising with printers to ensure that print artwork and films are in accordance with our requirements.
• Any other duties that may be assigned
