The Clinical Officer will work under the guidance of a senior officer.

Duties and Responsibilities

The specific duties will include the following, among others:
  • Seeing and examining patients
  • Diagnosing and treating ailments at an outpatient department in a hospital or Health Centre
  • Provision of clinical services in the area of specialty
  • Assist in planning and conducting primary health care activities
  • Coaching students attached to hospitals and medical centres
  • Supervising and counselling staff engaged on routine patient care
  • Giving support and health education to patients.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Be a holder of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized institution
  • Higher national diploma in anaesthesia, ENT, among others for specialist RCOs
  • Be registered by the Clinical Officers Council
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010, Articles 10 and 232

8. Specialized Care Nurses (Renal, Theatre, Peri-Operative, Pediatric/Neo-natal, Critical Care)

Specific duties will include the following, among others:
  • Will work within the respective hospital departments including ICU, HDU, renal unit, emergency rooms, theatre and cardiac care units
  • Planning, supervising and coordinating of duties within the respective departments
  • Provide continuous, high-level care for critically ill patients and their families
  • Providing bedside nursing care to patients
  • Critical care nurses are responsible for monitoring life support equipment and providing advanced life support.
  • Implement and evaluate outcomes of care given to patients
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors
Requirements
  • Be a Kenya citizen
  • Be a holder ECN, EN/M, KRCHN or BSc from a recognized institution.
  • Higher diploma in the area of nursing specialization
  • Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya with current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated clinical competency in the field of specialty in a busy hospital set up
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all staff, patients and families
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance enshrined in article 10 and 232 of the Kenya Constitution 2010.
9. Nurses
Job Group (G, H)

Work at this level will largely involve provision and management of Nursing Services in a Health Unit at a County or Sub-county Health facility.

Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties will include the following, among others:

  • Planning, supervising and coordinating of duties
  • Provision of nursing services including primary health services at various health facilities
  • Providing bedside nursing care to patients
  • Practical training, counselling and guidance of nursing students in Clinical areas
  • Performing administrative duties
  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • Be a Kenyan citizen
  • Be a holder ECN, EN/M, KRCHN or BScN from a recognized institution.
  • Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya
  • Shown Professional competence in planning, organizing and discharging nursing duties at that level
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya
  • Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010, Articles 10 and 232.
