James Finlay Mombasa Business Development Manager


James Finlay Mombasa is a successful Tea Trading Company and part of the Finlay Group, a vertically integrated agribusiness known for its ‘bush to cup’ expertise in tea and long commitment to sustainability and ethical trading.

We are now seeking to recruit a highly motivated and result oriented individual to fill in the position of Business Development Manager.

The Job: Reporting to the Operations Director, the key role for the Business Development Manager will be to establish and manage the business development and tea sales activities for all James Finlay overseas customers.
The main goal will be to achieve short and long term business and financial objectives, and to increase sales and market share while maintaining the margin expectations set by the business.

The Job holder will….
  • Develop and execute Business Plans for all James Finlay Mombasa overseas customers
  • Identify new market opportunities for existing and new innovation tea products
  • Manage existing customers to solidify mutual expectations of performance and growth while developing new ones
  • Work closely with the Trading Manager to design and execute pre-agreed strategies built around developing new business growth, new blend formulation and development
  • Drive “Request for quote” process with new prospects
  • Identify and attend tradeshows and other business functions to keep abreast of developments in the marketplace, to find potential new business, and to market company’s end-to-end solutions.
  • Collate and analyze Global tea market trends
  • Deliver the JFM “Must Win Battles” for new business in the customer development function
  • Update and implement pricing models for Value added Products
The ideal candidate will…..
  • Hold a business related or foreign trade degree from a reputable University
  • Have at least 5 years experience in evaluation unique of clients situation
  • Have the ability to create a winning vision and strategy in a competitive environment
  • Have a proven ability to build cohesive trading systems
  • Be highly proficient and computer literate
  • Have excellent interpersonal and presentation skills and a good influencer who is able to win customer confidence
  • Be proactive and self-motivated with proven record of high integrity
  • Have high levels of numerical and verbal reasoning skills
  • Tea tasting knowledge will be an added advantage
