Eneza Education Job Vacancy : Chief Operations Officer Job in Kenya

Job description

Eneza is looking to hire a qualified Chief Operations Officer (COO) to help lead our Kenyan team. The COO should be an overall leader, someone who works with tenacity and compassion. Ideally, our COO would be a manager with a past track record of success in developing countries and in education. Currently, we are a team of 15, with over 45 content and technical contractors. The Eneza Team adheres to the motto “Our kids are our bosses,” and we’re looking for motivated self-starters that wholly believe in our mission.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operational Leadership Leadership
Leads operations on team, which includes but is not limited to: creating and significantly increasing the effectiveness of existing systems such as human resources, financial systems, customer management, quality assurance, and internal communication structures
Collaborates with key managers (CEO, CTO and VP Business Development) to determine budget of Kenyan company
Consistently adapts existing company structures to adjust for a growing team and growing revenue streams
Holds team accountable to achieving results through coaching and performance management, regardless of team members’ diverse backgrounds
Consistently provides feedback and direction to staff to ensure development, engagement and business acumen
Ensures a positive work environment by listening and responding to customers, team feedback, and issues and concerns in a timely manner
Collaborates with CTO to plan and execute product vision and roadmaps
Drives a positive team culture through skill-building and coaching
Provides quality staff feedback to improve processes and customer experience

2. Financial leadership

Helps manage and adjust course based on budgets and financial models
Works with CEO and VP Business Development to set clear revenue goals and communicate with the team to deliver revenue results
Works with staff to ensure 100% compliance of Kenyan financial laws

3. Product and User Experience
Ensures that direct product feedback from customers happens daily, including observations, follow-me-homes, random sampling and data mining from our interactions database
Holds employees and other departments accountable to recognize, prioritize and meet customer needs and demands
Works with Team to ensure action plans are developed, executed and adapted based on user experience observations and data
Confers with CTO to adapt and add to the product vision

Position Requirements

  • 5+ years of management experience, preferably in education and/or ICT sectors
  • Strong knowledge of the Kenyan market
  • Strong operations and finance experience required
  • Must possess strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and utmost humility and resilience in the face of extreme challenges
  • Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and communicate well with colleagues, customers and partners
  • Strong public presentation skills
  • Willingness to learn the Agile methodology, if not already familiar
