Job purpose
Reporting to the CEO and working as a key member of the Asset Management Company leadership team, the COO will take a leadership role in building, implementing, and overseeing all of the AMC’s
systems of internal control, processes, workflows, and procedures. The COO will oversee the design, enhancement, implementation, reporting, and oversight of the firm’s operations, human resources and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate and manage key projects to ensure effective implementation of the business strategy;
- Originate and execute initiatives to enhance revenue growth, quality improvement and cost reduction;
- Develop and establish operating policies consistent with the Company’s broad policies and objectives and ensure their adequate execution;
- Appraise and evaluate the results of overall operations regularly and systematically, and report these results to the CEO;
- Implement best practices in structure, systems of internal control and processes, and ensure that all activities and operations are performed in compliance with regulations, laws governing business operations and company policies;
- Participate in the development and preparation of short-term and long-range plans and budgets based on broad organization goals and objectives;
- Liaise with departmental leaders to effectively implement the operating plans, including any ongoing reviews;
- Coach, mentor and supervise direct reports;
- Align, upgrade team capabilities to business agenda and build cross functional team working skills;
- Ensure creation of a conducive organizational culture aligned with the values of Britam Group;
- Develop and maintain a sound plan of organization. Establish policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession for those functions/business units falling under their responsibility;
- Direct the development and implementation of procedures and controls, to promote communication and adequate information flow.
- Strong undergraduate degree in a numerate discipline e.g. Commerce, Economics etc.;
- A Master’s Degree e.g. MBA or its equivalent, will be an added advantage;
- Qualified Accountant with professional certification e.g. CPA, ACCA, CA etc.;
- Over 10 years’ experience of working in a financial services organization;
- Strong technical and working knowledge of finance and operations;
- Experience of managing diverse teams;
- Strong work ethic with keen attention to detail;
- Strong team player with excellent leadership skills;
- Excellent communications skills both oral and written.
