The Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA) is a State Corporation which was established by the Unclaimed Financial Assets Act No. 40 of 2011 with the primary mandate of receiving unclaimed financial assets from the holders of such assets on behalf of the Government, safeguarding and re-uniting the assets with their rightful owners.
The Authority invites applications from a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the following position:

Overall Purpose
  • The Senior System Administrator (SA) is responsible for installation / configuration, operationalization, maintenance, performance, security and availability of systems hardware, software and related application components.
  • The role involves the design, implementation and maintenance of systems as well as providing 24/7 support to users and partner.
  • Developing and implementing design specifications to computerize and network all functions, activities and processes and enhance organizational effectiveness.
  • Developing or modifying software programmes to support organizational needs; design and install interactive web sites that include database connectivity, multimedia and searchable content
  • Co-coordinating the repair and maintenance of hardware systems and monitor computer security measures
  • Providing technical support services to computer users and equip computer users with necessary skills to implement computer- based information systems
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Developing, testing, documenting, implementing and enhancing of backup and recovery procedures as well as application of change-management procedures and activities.
  • Oversee desktop, server and network support problems
  • Network administration (including backup, security management, user account management, e-mail systems including e-mail web server, internet access, office systems and applications support).
  • Applying OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Configuring and adding new services as need arise.
  • Managing user accounts.
  • Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.
  • Designing, setup and configuring of complex Multi-Server environments
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for all implemented systems.
  • Monitoring the performance of systems and related services.
  • Notes trends and initiates appropriate action when necessary.
  • Supporting the implementation of information and communication technology policies and plans across functional activities and business processes
  • Analysing user requirements, procedures and problems in order to prepare plans and specifications to computerize and network research operations and improve the capacity of existing computer systems
  • Developing and implementing computer security measures and guidelines to safeguard Network and system against loss of valuable data and information caused by hardware problems, unauthorized access, modification, virus attacks or destruction of computer files
  • Evaluating user requests for new, modified or updated software application and programmes to determine feasibility and compatibility with current system;
  • Reviewing, test and evaluate both hardware systems and software programmes to determine their efficiency, reliability and compatibility and recommend data communication systems
  • Preparing proposals and budgets for funding improvement of technology.
  • Monitoring, diagnosing and troubleshooting the computer network backbone which includes network switching systems and servers, organizational data and information, telephone communication systems and intelligent terminal equipment
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent qualification from a university recognized by the Commission for University Education.
  • Professional qualifications
  • At least 6 years relevant work experience actively engaged in configuration and management of different systems platforms.
  • Experience in working with different data center hardware such as servers, storage and communication equipment.
