Market Infrastructure Systems Officer

1 Position
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Risk Analysis & Compliance the selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Analyzing all market systems to establish, assess, and document the risks as well as the mitigations required to address the gaps identified.
- Analyzing risk and over sighting of all market infrastructure systems operating in or being introduced tothe market which shall include but not limited to anyATS system, Derivative systems, CDS Systems, Broker Back Office systems, Market Surveillance systems, market data providers
- Conducting research and supporting evaluation processes to determine best system technical requirements and future needs of the market and available options.
- Analyzing impact of proposed solutions across all the market infrastructure, applications development and business areas.
- Developing, testing, and documenting systems in accordance with infrastructure standards and validation procedures
- Negotiating timelines, responsibilities, and deliverables for new systems or change requests
- Based on risk assessment, propose upgrades to the existing systems to achieve operational efficiency and security.
- Evaluating and sharing information from thorough assessment of overall business and internal control factors of intermediaries and if systems in use are adequate
- Maintaining a comprehensive risk database that includes all identified risks in the market infrastructures and occasionally provide a trend analysis to inform decision making.
- Participate in onsite inspections of market participants to evaluate their systems with a view to highlighting areas of weakness
- Undertake any other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- An upper second honours Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Business Information Technology
- CISA will be an added advantage
Experience:
Three (3) years relevant experience in a similar position
Key Skills, Knowledge & Competencies
- Pro-active and self-driven with a great eye for detail, strong analytical skills and a strong desire to truly understand the capital markets
- Strong quantitative and technological training
- Savvy ICT expert with ability to contextualize the market systems role as against best practice
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a team
- Presentation and communication skills including ability to write reports;
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office, Outlook express, financial and statistical packages;
- Ability to maintain high standards of integrity; establish straightforward and productive relationships;
- Ability to meet tight deadlines as well as work with minimal supervision
- Experience as a systems analyst or Technical Business Analyst
- Strong skills in IT security
- Unquestionable Ethics, Integrity and Professionalism
