Vacancy: Communication & Public Relations Manager

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan
  • Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decide who, where, and when to disseminate
  • Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
  • Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, website
  • Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
  • Planning, developing and implementing PR strategies
  • Liaising with and answering inquiries from media, individuals and other organizations, often via telephone and email
  • Researching, writing and distributing press releases to targeted media Collating and analyzing media coverage
  • Writing and editing in-house magazines, case studies, speeches, articles and annual reports
  • Preparing and supervising the production of publicity brochures, handouts, direct mail leaflets, promotional videos, photographs, films and multimedia programmes
  • Managing the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation.

  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant experience working in media, public relations or telecoms
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or related field preferred.
  • Must have a strong editorial eye, be media-savvy, and love to pitch
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Familiarity with social media and its role in public relations
  • An ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment
  • Familiarity with technology, policy, parenting and education press and reporters a plus!
