Agricultural Sector Supply Chain Manager

Agricultural Sector Supply Chain Manager

Type: Middle Level Management

Location: Nairobi

Company Profile: Our client, an Agricultural distributor of farming inputs such as seeds, fertilizers, animal feeds, tools, etc. is looking for a Supply Chain Manager to expand distribution.

The agricultural sector has struggled for decades to provide smallholders with even basic inputs and
extension services. Without reliable access to these fundamental resources, farmers cannot improve their yields or increase their incomes.
Government subsidy programs and international aid interventions are unsustainable, create dependency, and distort markets.
Existing private market systems are often controlled by informal actors who extract significant margins from the supply chain without adding requisite value and often introduce poor, counterfeit, or expired products into the system.

The status-quo for farmers are poorly run agro-dealers, staffed by unqualified people, and informal distributors that add little value in the supply chain. These typical informal outlets offer sub-standard products, uncertain quality and limited agronomic support. More than 75% of Kenyans have had harvests ruined by using fake seeds.

Our client company, by contrast, manages the supply chain from product manufacturers to the farmer point-of-purchase at local retail shops, which are run by qualified livestock health assistants and agronomists.
Our team of specialists manages franchisee development; creates customer awareness and activates new markets; develops competitive supplier relationships; and manages an inventory system for efficiency and quality control.
