African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF)

The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is an international not-for-profit organisation that facilitates, and promotes public / private partnerships to access, develop, adapt and
deliver appropriate agricultural technologies for sustainable use by smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Corporate Communications Officer
Responsibilities:
  •  Reporting to the Senior Manager Communications & Partnerships the Corporate Communications Officer will develop and implement effective corporate communication and outreach strategies for the Foundation’s internal and external stakeholders to raise awareness and understanding of AATF and its operations and position AATF as a key contributor to Sub Saharan Africa’s( SSA) agricultural development

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development, implementation and monitoring of Foundation communications strategies and plans including Unit budgets.
  • Edit scientific and technical reports, providing comments for accuracy, clarity and style
  • Coordinate printing of technical and non-technical communication materials
  • Support and guide effective and efficient public awareness and marketing campaigns in Sub Saharan Africa.
  • Cultivate and ensure healthy working relationships with the media
  • Develop appropriate knowledge products based on the Foundation’s experiences and promising practices for use by stakeholders.
  • Provide technical and coordination support in the Foundation’s Public Relations events.
  • Provide departmental support for design and graphics in line with AATF guidelines.
Qualifications:
  • Suitable candidates must have a Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or any other relevant field.
  • Candidates must also have five (5) years relevant experience in public relations and communications with special emphasis on working with the media.
  • A good understanding of SSA agricultural environment;
  • experience in knowledge management and and fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of French is an added advantage.
Projects Communications Officer

Responsibilities: 
Reporting to the Senior Manager Communications & Partnerships the Projects Communication Officer is responsible for designing and implementing communication and publicity initiatives directed at various internal and external stakeholder audiences to encourage commitment, promote understanding of AATF work and position the Foundation as a key contributor to Africa’s agricultural development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in developing, implementing and monitoring project communications strategies and plans to enhance project visibility to support positioning and understanding in line with the relevant project work plans and the Foundation’s communications strategy;
  • Create visibility for AATF Projects through well drawn and implemented media plans to support a healthy engagement and leverage of media
  • Document and manage the development, production and dissemination of effective project communication and promotional products.
  • Ensure usage of clear, consistent messages to support project communications
  • Develop, manage and update the project partner databases and ensure timely and scheduled provision of information to partners and stakeholders;
  • Support country partners in developing and implementing communications strategies and plans to support project communication goals
  • Identify and manage strategic project related PR opportunities such as events including mounting and managing AATF displays in exhibitions and meetings among other PR activities and identify visibility opportunities that will contribute to realisation of project goals
Qualifications:
  • Suitable candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or any other relevant field.
  • Candidates must also have five (5) years relevant experience in public relations and communications.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of French is an added advantage.

  • Compensation and Tenure: AATF offers a competitive salary and benefits package, and a collegial and gender-sensitive working environment. The employment contract is for an initial period of 2 years, renewable subject to performance and availability of funding
