Position Title: Technical Product Management Specialist
Status: Full-Time, Regular
Location: Nairobi, Kenya
FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime Pay)Company Description: A mobile technology company with tools designed for use by field staff working in remote areas and monitoring & evaluation software running in the office. The sales force platform is accessed in the field via android devices.
The product is fully optimized for remote field operations management and program monitoring and evaluation, including robust business reporting and analyticsJob Summary: The Specialist, Technical Product Management (TPM) will be responsible for executing against the overall company’s product release schedule and driving the on time delivery of the company’s software releases.
They will be responsible for customer requirements gathering, understanding use cases, developing functional specifications, defining user stories and acceptance criteria, and ensuring a seamless integration into the product.
The TPM will work closely with the software development team to prioritize work, remove obstacles, troubleshoot bugs and ensure the team is working efficiently on advancing the company’s development cycle.
In addition, the company is a small team that operates in a startup-like environment – the TPM will be expected to contribute in other areas in addition to their core responsibilities as needed.NB: We are looking for someone who is both familiar with gathering requirements, understanding customer use cases and turning them into user stories and functional specs, while also knowing how to manage developers and prioritize their work.
Reporting: The Specialist, Technical Product Management (TPM) will report to the Group Manager, Product and Professional Services
Availability: The TPM will be expected to work a standard work week of 37.5 hours plus additional hours as necessary to get the job done.
The position may require regional and global travel, up to 20% travel.Essential Job Functions
Own and drive all new functional development in the company’s product; understand deeply customer use cases, develop functional specifications, and work with software developers to get the right functionality into the product.
Using agile development methodologies, translate customer use cases and requirements into user stories, drive bug triage and all other program management related processes as part of the overall software development cycle.
Develop and represent core functional expertise in the company’s product.
Advocate for and have deep understanding for Quality Assurance processes as part of the development cycle, including assisting with and reviewing Acceptance Criteria and Test Scripts.
Monitor and improve existing Development and QA processes
Collaborate frequently with the Product Design team to review user research and give feedback on UI design and product wireframes
Work closely with the company’s sales and professional services team members to support them with customer support and release documentation
Key stakeholder in development of the company’s product roadmap
Work with the company’s product team to ensure regular communication of current project work and overall product roadmap to stakeholders.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Deep commitment to eradication of poverty and alignment with Grameen Foundation’s mission
Demonstrated experience managing software development projects with multiple stakeholders, driving issues to resolution and shipping products; passion for delivering tangible results; able to juggle multiple priorities.
Strong technical ability; ability to understand and willingness to deep dive in technical issues
Experience with SalesForce.com and/or Android mobile a plus.
Experience with Agile methodologies and test driven development required.
Experience working with remote software development teams a plus.
Experience with supporting and deploying mobile applications a plus.
Strong written and verbal skills; ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical peers and ability to effectively communicate with end users, business decision makers, and software developers.
Fluency in English required.
Previous experience working and living in the emerging markets a plus.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
Two to four years progressive and relevant experience.
Physical and Environmental Conditions: This position does not require unusual demands for physical effort.
