Aga Khan Health Services an agency of The Aga Khan Development Network is seeking a highly enthusiastic and qualified candidate to fill the position of Regional Internal Auditor.Position Summary: The Regional Internal Auditor (RIA) will be in charge of internal audit operations of AKHS in East Africa.
He/she will be expected to provide an independent assurance service to the board, audit committee and management, focusing on reviewing the effectiveness of the governance, risk management and control processes that management has put into place.
The RIA will report to the Chairs of the Board Audit Committees (BAC’s) Head of Finance, AKHS / AKPBS.
Administratively he/she reports to the R/CEO, AKHS EA.
This position will be based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Main Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
Ensuring that Internal Audit is a strong and resourced function within AKHS
Annual planning for the department
Executing annual audit plan
Supervising staff and ensuring department’s resources are efficiently allocated and utilized
Ensuring audit assignments are carried out in line with AKHS methodology and observing professional standards
Providing practical and proactive audit recommendations that are discussed and agreed with management
Following up with management to ensure audit recommendations are implemented
Reviewing performance of staff on a regular basis to ensure their work is professionally tenable
Preparing reports and any other task assigned from time to time.
Academic Qualification and Experience:
MBA or CPA
CIA or CISA qualifications are desirable
Must have good understanding of ICT systems
At least five (5) years of Internal Audit experience of which two (2) years of which should be in a managerial capacity.
Should be a self-starter with the ability to plan and perform audits with limited supervision.
Should possess strong investigative and project management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with all levels of employees.
Should have a desire to learn and apply that knowledge to assist management in improving organizational controls and procedures.
Should have the ability to maintain high standards of confidentiality, ethics and to work with a high degree of integrity.
Must be ready or available to travel for audit assignments
