Kabarak University invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions in the University Library.

University Librarian
1 Position

Personal Profile:
Applicants should hold PhD degree or equivalent in Library and information Science from a recognized institution and should have served as Senior Librarian or higher position for at least five years in a large Academic Library.
Applicants with Masters Degree in Library and Information Science with at least 10 years experience as Senior Librarian or higher position in an Academic Library will also be considered.
Applicants must be competent in relevant ICT applications and e-information.
They should show evidence of research and publications and other professional activities.
Applicants must be dynamic persons with ability to provide effective leadership and promote teamwork.
Job Profile: Reporting to the Provost (Academic, Spiritual & Student Affairs), the successful candidate will be responsible for continuous development and provision of efficient Library services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Overall administration, coordination and management of Library services.
Formulation and development of Library policies to meet University goals and objectives.
Oversee the collection, development and management of university resources leading to the provision of relevant and up to date information resources for the academic and research activities.
Developing human resource through staff performance management, assisting in the staff recruitment and selection and making recommendations for promotion and training of library staff.
Planning for the University physical resources and equipment as well as the information services that will contribute towards the university goals and objectives.

Assistant Librarian
1 Position
Applicants should have a Masters degree in Library Studies/Information Science from a recognized university, and at least 5 years working experience in a large academic Library.
They should also have working knowledge and experience on Library Management Systems. Applicants who are members of a relevant professional body have an added advantage.
The successful applicant will be responsible for library user services that include preparation of guides, reports, work schedules and provision of user education.
The candidate will also provide administrative support in the Library.
Remuneration and Terms of Employment: Appointments to the above positions will be on permanent and pensionable terms following a satisfactory probation period of six (6) months. A competitive compensation package will be offered to successful candidates.
