This role reports to the Cost AccountantContext/Scope:
EABL is the leading Drinks Company in Eastern Africa with a wide portfolio of products in various categories of beer, spirits, glass barley, malt and other non-alcoholic drinks. EABL is quoted in all the three East African Stock exchanges and has operations across East Africa.
Purpose of role:
• Support Supply Chain management in understanding cost variances.
• Preparation of detailed reports which can be used for supply decision making.
• Continuing improvement of standard costing systems
• Manage risk management and CARM processes for costing
Market Complexity:
Achievement of reasonable returns to providers of capital requires that volumes and market share must be grown and production, sales and distribution efficiencies.
This calls for effective budgetary and financial control systems that monitor management effectiveness in controlling costs, achieving optimum volume and revenue growth and market share whilst ensuring efficient utilization of capital. Such systems should produce timely and accurate management of financial information on a monthly basis to meet management requirements and satisfy all legal and accounting standards.
Top Accountabilities:
Weekly preparation and analysis of BOM usage report, Repair and maintenance reports and circulation to the supply teams.
Monthly preparation of supply cost centre reports and reviewing with functional heads.
Daily TB review, tracking and follow up of issues identified.
Monthly analysis of Purchase Price Variance Report (PPV) and getting sign offs with procurement on a monthly basis.
Monthly preparations of brand COGS and BPM supply pack with clear explanations of variance.
Prepare accurate product costing and stock valuations according to GAAP and Finance Policy
Maintenance of Product Masterfile and BOM. Maintain audit trail of all changes and relevant authority
Assist in the preparation of COGS for AOP, Strat Plans and forecasts
Assist in monthly preparation of COGS R&O
Actively participate in month-end reporting
Continuous improvement of process and systems
Drive commercial excellence and awareness to enhance quality and service delivery
Play an active role in the CARM testing process and ensure test results are delivered in a timely manner
Ad hoc costing on new products/re-engineering
Qualification & Experience:
B com degree (Accounting Option)
Pursuing an Accountant qualification (ACCA or CPA)
2 to 3 years relevant experience preferably within the FMCG sector( supply chain experience preferred)
SAP knowledge in manufacturing and costing
Advanced excel knowledge
Keenness to detail
High level of integrity
