City Nairobi, Johannesburg Relocation Expenses No Role Summary/Purpose This role will lead the originations process for the Development & Investment organization across SSA. The focus of the role is the ‘intake process’ per the D&I groups guidelines as a market originations role. The incumbent will have to manage a large volume of pipeline leads simultaneously, driving each facet of early stage discussions; screening; determining pre-feasibility; investment required and facilitate approval process to get leads into the execution pipeline Essential Responsibilities •Lead the intake process of GE D&I projects •Be able to asses project viability/ feasibility of implementation and bankability •Prepare early stage development budgets, timelines and structure and agree with internal stakeholders what the actual deal for GE looks like •Connect with key developers in client market •Develop relationships & advise internally on high level commercial terms •Prepare and present investment rationale for business and regional stakeholder approval •Maintain direct responsibility for all facets of the deal origination cycle •Monitor portfolio and actively manage T&L spend on assigned projects •Structure projects to maximize GE equipment and services pull through and minimize risk exposure •Manage; train and develop staff assigned to support originations. Qualifications/Requirements •Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration or equivalent (MBA preferred) •15+ years of relevant experience, with 10+ in SSA •Proven leader with demonstrated success originating large infrastructure projects is essential (power, transport; healthcare and O&G are key verticals) •Strong knowledge and experience in project management and project risk •Experience with evaluating, negotiating and closing contracts •Demonstrated experience in brokering, structuring and closing infrastructure deals •Project finance experience, with demonstrated aptitude in and economic modeling / pro-forma analysis •Working knowledge of project development requirements such as fuel supply, grid interconnections, permitting requirements, etc. •Competency to work unaided in originations utilizing legal for approvals only •Demonstrated understanding of managing enterprise risk and track record with compliance structures a must •Team player with outstanding interpersonal skills •Demonstrated passion and experience driving growth and initiating change •Excellent communication skills and demonstrated executive presentation skills •Dynamic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive Desired Characteristics •MBA qualification •Minimum of 10+ years’ hands on experience in the power generation sector, with a deep understanding of legal documentation evaluation •Understanding of various financing products and structures, including loans, leases, partnerships and equity investments
