Equity Group Foundation wishes to recruit a General Manager for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning.



Equity Group Foundation (EGF) is a corporate foundation of Equity Bank Group. It was created in 2008 to undertake the social investment work of the bank. It focuses on 7 critical thematic areas; Education and Leadership, Health, Agriculture, Financial Inclusion, Financial Literacy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Environment. EGF develops and implements high impact and sustainable programs targeting disadvantaged communities especially youth and women with a commitment to provide the tools for self-advancement. To achieve this, EGF leverages on Equity Banks physical (branch and agent network), technological (IT and Mobile) and human resources infrastructure, as well as its strong and respected brand to execute its programs, enabling it to rapidly reach scale.



The GM position will be responsible for designing, planning and supervising the implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities that measure the overall performance of all the programs of the Foundation. He/She will manage a team of M&E staff and work with General Managers of the foundation’s program pillars to design and operationalize systems and tools for data collection, storage and analysis. He/she will work with these General Managers to take lead in writing reports pertaining to performance of their respective pillars and to drive the learning agenda of the Foundation.


The Position


Key Responsibilities
Review and/or design M&E and Learning Frameworks for all key programs of the Foundation
With IT review/design the data collection and management systems to improve and streamline their use as needed
Ensure that relevant data collection from all stakeholders and field programs is collected in a timely manner.
Monitor data quality and conduct regular analysis of data as per the program requirements
Regularly review and improve the M&E system by seeking stakeholder inputs and through consultations with staff and practitioners in other organizations.
Administer the programme database
Develop, refine and manage the processes for regular reporting on findings and coordinate with appropriate departments for the dissemination of information.
Manage day-to-day operations of the M&E function, including support of staff and stakeholders
Foster and coordinate partnerships for independent external assessments to attain high quality, third-party evaluation studies as needed
Keep abreast of the latest developments in M&E and network with other organizations for best practices and technical assistance.
Drive the learning agenda of the Foundation drawing on findings from M&E and with lessons from EGF programs and best practices from the appropriate fields.




Desired Skills and Experience

Candidate’s Qualifications, Knowledge and experience


A Bachelors degree, but a Masters degree preferred
10 years experience in M&E particularly in donor funded projects
Experience in developing and utilizing monitoring and evaluation systems and tools
Have managed databases including use of appropriate Management Information Systems.
Strong statistical and other analytical analysis
Have experience in knowledge management and learning
Strong writing skills
