Our client is a market leader in distribution of used car sales, maintenance service, parts sales, as well as car rentals.
They seek to hire an all rounded accountant to handle the day to day accounting and finance functions of the company.

Job Title: Automotive Accountant

Location: Nairobi

Salary: Ksh 50,000 – 60,000 gross



Duties and Responsibilities

Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
Report to management regarding the finances of establishment.
Establish tables of accounts, and assign entries to proper accounts.
Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel, and direct their work activities.
Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Provide internal and external auditing services for businesses and individuals.
Assist Senior Accountant with payroll system and payroll related items.
Manage petty cash account.
Perform such other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time – quite often on short notice – by the CFO or Senior Accountant.
Maintain and audit company financial records.
Oversee budget and financial management.
Perform duties related to bookkeeping, preparation of government audits, taxes, and financial planning.
Participate in strategic planning, fraud prevention, and budget development.
Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
CPA (K) holder
A minimum of 3 years experience in accounting is required; especially in SMEs
Minimum 25 years old
Experience automotive industry costing and auditing is recommended
Knowledge accounting systems. Navision or Incardia preferred
Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products
Good written, verbal communication and collaborative skills
willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done
Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards
Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
